| i cannot fall into line with this chopping and changing argument. While i agree it is not a desirable situation to have Brian Noble has been here over 3 years, its hardly a knee jerk reaction or a throw back to the old regime, he has in fact been backed to the hilt on several occasions.
4 months combined good form in inseason months of 27ish(?), does not cut it, not only that we have had to endure the same mistakes committed by the team and players, the same inconsistency. We have a team that shows a total lack of commitment and motivation for much of the time, and who make schoolboy errors.
I fully appreciate we are in a good run now but for me the only performance to get excited about was the Leeds one and credit to Noble for that, he played a blinder.
I think BN has done a good job of stabilising the club and i actually would not be against him remaining at the club as a director of rugby, he has clearly done very well in this role at Wigan but for me he has had long enough and enough resources to have us in a better position on the field than we have been for the last 2 years.

| I'd certainly give Noble at least another year.
We started poorly this year due to disruptions to the team. With Mathers and Smith being in and out of the team until their respective departures.
Noble tried 4 full backs in the first 8-10 games having to shift the backs around because of this. Now they are both gone and Gleeson is playing well we have settled backs and halves.
He has also sorted out his two starting and bench props.
Result is that for once Noble has a relatively settled team with just two or three injuries in the whole squad.
Starting next year only Carmont's future is unresolved. If he stays we have again a settled sets of backs and halves. A couple of props and we are very well fixed for the new campaign.
For the rest of this season the squad knew they had to step up a gear or three and have done. Last Friday was the first time in a long time we have overpowered the Leeds pack. The last 10-15 mins they were out on their feet. If this pack can put down a platform for the backs we should be in good shape for the rest of the season.
Noble has brought this about and we are 2-3 players off a really good squad. He should bring in the players he wants for 2010 and then stay for 2 years.
The last thing we need is a new coach with "new" thinking who looks at our squad, decides he doesn't like 8-10 players and wants them out and his "type" of player in. That would unstabilize the squad and with his changes mean we don't compete for anything then after 2 years he's shown the door and we start the whole roundabout yet again.
How many times have Wigan done that over the past 15 years?
We must not do it again, Noble should stay!

Totally agree,
If a new coach came in he would want hes spin on the team and disrupt a team witch is playing well and playing together.
As IL said noble should be here to see his fruit grow from the seeds

| After that piece on Wigantoday I can't see IL getting rid of Noble.
IL has to make a decision some time, I think he's now made it and that interview suggests he is now backing Noble and that Nobby will stay.

Why not just say it then?
If the deal's made, announce it.
They might be in negotiation of course, but I find it hard to believe that IL values Noble so highly that he'd get into a series of prolonged and complex negotiations.
Wouldn't it be a case of: "Here's the one-year deal, Brian. Take it or leave it."

Just speculation but youmay have hit the nail on the head there. I've argued for 12 months that Noble should be given a shot at the 2010 season and see how we go but maybe he is holding out for a longer deal?

We can't keep having this soap opara year after year as to wheather Nobby will stay or not.
He must be given a minimum 2year deal or else be shown the door.
FWIW i think he'll get a 2 year deal(although maybe 1 year with a years option) and it may well be announced before the semi final. I can't see that his whole future will be decided on 80 minutes against Wire.

Has anyone thought that is very strange to have a Fans Forum on the Wednesday before the Semi. And I.L. has already said that an announcement on Nobles future would be made before the Semi. 2+2 sometimes makes 5 but in this case i think it will make 4 if you get my drift.

It's possible that he's going to announce that Noble will continue at the FF, but it's not the sort of thing that will win the whole or even the majority of audience over - he's usually pretty smart on things like that.

Thats when i'd expect it to be announced tbh or at least in the lead up to it(if he has signed a new deal).
I've been split on keeping him on but i'm edging towards him staying at the moment. He's had alot of adversity to face over the past few weeks and has still managed to get us firing towards the back end of the season again. If we get him a big forward or 2 to help out on the early, boggy pitches at the start of a season i think we can really go places under him.
It's hard to show patience sometimes especially when things are going bad at a club desperate for success but i feel we could reap the rewards of that patience.

| It's still hard to say whether he'll be given a new deal but in all reality we obviously could still end up winning nothing this year. Were Lenegan to announce a new deal for Noble before the semi and then we lose it and we also end up losing in the play-offs were stuck with him having won nothing, and history shows we'll probably start 2010 in terrible fashion just like we have every other year under Noble.
