No. Only until your next win.
When do you think that might be?

I’d say I’ve been posting on your board since your last title win but they’d only just invented the light bulb in those days, let alone thought of the internet

You may be right but we now have an unnamed source and reputable named source who think to the contrary. I think Edwards is being found out and we should do away with him sooner rather than later.'"
It could be that he means he spoke with Edwards who said he was under pressure from Wigan, and then the next thing he knew was that Edwards had signed a contract with Wigan via what he had read in the media. I dont think he means Edwards rang him or he rang Edwards who told him 'ive signed a contract'. I think he just means he took it that Edwards had signed for Wigan. I could be wrong but thats how i read it and now he is shocked to learn that there never was a contract signed.

| Twenty three pages ….. and rising quickly of …..."he said, she said"...…. "I've heard from a reliable source" comments that are worthless in the grand scheme of things.
As suggested earlier if this were a murder trial or any form of trial the only thing that would interest the judge would be "THE FACTS"
Does the contract exist ? has it been signed ? has it been broken by either party ? call me simplistic if you like but unless you can firstly produce the contract none of the other questions are relevant.
In this instance SE claims it doesnt exist, IL claimed in front of a TV audience that he had a three year one signed , one of them is obviousley lying.
Legally it would be very easy to prove which one, but my guess is that it will never go that far (and we will never know) as neither side has anything to gain from what would be a costly court case.
A a fan I only hope that this matter can be resolved quickly, the onfield problems are a far more serious issue IMHO.

He could mean that. But then he might just mean what his quote strongly implies, namely that Edwards ended the talks with Wales by telling them he'd signed for Wigan.
I strongly doubt that Wales would walk away on the basis of a newspaper story without seeking some kind of clarification from Edwards (though I will admit that 'clarification' doesn't seem to mean the same thing to Shaun that it does to everyone else).
Anyway, it's still all conjecture. The truth may come out in the wash, and it's best to wait and see. Choosing what we believe because it's what we want to believe can lead to big disappointment.

Well surely if there was a contract signed then Wigan are not going to just rip it up without getting some compensation? The silence from the club is deafening right now and if Edwards had in fact signed a contract, surely the club would of put that out in the useless statement they released yesterday?
As i asked earlier, and nobody seemed to reply to it. If Edwards had signed a contract then why did Mr Lenegan come out in January and say Edwards may not come if Lam wins everything?
I think its almost without doubt that there never was a contract signed.

I dont read it like that. I read that he spoke with Edwards whilst Edwards was in talks with Wigan (before the press conference) and Wigan were putting pressure on Edwards and then the next thing he knew was that Edwards had signed with Wigan. Maybe he read it in the media, or maybe he watched the press conference in which it was said that Edwards had signed a 3 year deal.

I agree with you SE has absolutely nothing to gain in making his claim as it is so easy to disprove.

| The plot has certainly thickened.
Either way I feel let down. Let down by the club and let down by SE. I was genuinely excited to get SE back in the game with Wigan, a club legend and proven winner and a name sure to attract big name players.
I don’t not believe BRW or The Enforcer when they say they’ve spoken to “people at the club” but I am sceptical, purely because I’ve heard it all before (who remembers the Gasnier and Long to Wigan saga’s?).
The club needs to clarify its position. SE needs to clarify his position - is he coming or is he not? I know we’re barely into this season but preparations for next season must be underway, planning for signings/releases, backroom staff etc. SE is (or was depending on your viewpoint) a part of that, if for reason XYZ he isn’t we need to adapt and go to Plan B all the way through to Z if we have to and that should take priority. We can’t sign players for a coach who doesn’t want that player or that type of player.
I do still hold out a belief SE will be here in 2020, despite all this. I don’t know why, maybe it’s purely blind hope in disguise but I do believe he will be here in 2020 as our Head Coach.

| If people from within the club’s upper management are already speaking about this off the record, it is also worth taking those words with a note of caution. Everyone involved will want to save face because the fall out could be reputation-destroying.
I doubt anyone will come out of this looking good mind, the real mystery now is WHO IS THE BAD GUY!

| Neither party has covered themselves in glory but the situation is we are stuck, for want of a better word, with IL. Please, IL, come clean. Confirm Edwards is history and tell us how you mean to proceed.

| I don't know what to believe.
I admit early yesterday I was more disillusioned with Wigan than in the 40+ years of supporting us.
I find this position more embarrassing than all the other things. Losing our own home, moved fixtures, home games played away that I could not attend seeming like we are complicent in becoming an NRL feeder team points deduction and so on!
Even so you have a press conference with Edwards sat of his own free will as new coach after the RU world cup. Why after the world cup? Because of his integrity, a man of his word. I didn't see any gun to his head.
Then you have all the carry on of his interviews, surley that should have been done out of respect to us fans behind closed doors not in the press?
Then you have him saying he won't be at Wales because they are going in a different direction. Only for the new coach to deny it and say thats not the case. So who to believe?
For such a club to find itself in these seemingly continual positions of embarrassment is shambolic. I'm always defending us and also IL but lets just get some honest facts draw a line and stop such things happening again.
We wonder why lifelong fans are not renewing season tickets and we struggle to sell out world club chalenge games!!

Has he actually done anything wrong though? Nobody knows for sure which side the blame lies or if it lies with both sides?

Even allowing for ineptitude from Wigan I feel that Edwards’ press comments are disrespectful to the club. How can he and IL work together after this debacle?
