It's extremely churlish not to give credit when credit is due. By all means be unimpressed by other things IL has done or not done, but you're firmly on your own in disliking this latest move. Even the other website, notoriously skeptical compared to this one, is offering fulsome praise for it.'"
I am all for this move as I have said elsewhere I think Maguire will address many of the issues I had with Noble but I am on record on this site as saying I didn't like the way IL handled it and I myself am not about to go back on those words just because at long last things have panned out in a way I approve of.
My view has been Noble should have got the boot with Wane as caretaker once IL decided he wasn't going to get a deal come what may and that we now know was after the CC semi final defeat.
I don't believe having listened to Noble and IL that Noble knew officially or unofficially he had not got a deal until very late in the day and whether he did or not, he kept saying he did not know to the press so as a consequence it gave the pundits plenty of anti-Wigan ammo.
That said I think BK's negative take on this appointment in terms of Maguire being 2nd or 3rd choice and so on is missing the point completely that there is every reason to think he has attributes to take the club forward.

| Quote: MattyB "I'd say that we have a better squad (when we play to our full potential) than Huddersfield and they finished 3rd.
I want to see a season of consistent rugby played with enthusiasm and committment, that will in turn see results go our way and in time we will break into the Top 4, then (with astute recruiting) Top 2.'"
I agree that's why I didn't mention them

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| I'm proper over the moon about MM taking over and the shake up at the club and I really look forward to players getting better coaching and playing better.

By the sounds of things, interviews with the man himself, our chairman and recommendations by some of the best coaches in the World , we could be about to witness something special at Wigan in the next few seasons.I for one can't wait.'"

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

As far as I could see it didn't break the AUP and was entirely factual.

Great skill and dignity?
Telling a coach the Friday before the Q/F that he was out (after a rule change on the Visa's by the sound of it)
Talking about how the contract was "dependent on results"
Effectively almost admitting that MM was his 2nd (or 3rd??) choice?
Dignity? Skill?'"
From the IFL interview it states objectives were laid out after our shocking start to the year.Noble was aware of this and failed, despite being given every chance to turn things round.
Noble got the bullet late in the day officially but he clearly knew it was coming given he was in negotiation with other clubs.
Dignity by not throughout the season trying to manipulate the press to get them on side, skill in getting a great coach into the club.
You have your opinion, i have mine and i am glad we can discuss them these days without going down the root of a slanging match.
It comes down to who you believe i guess personally I believe IFL given the fact BN had been negotiating with other clubs and indeed signed a deal with one prior to the point he claimed he was not aware of his future.

Didn't Noble step up from assistant to head coach at Bradford and go on to appear in 5 consecutive finals? Not sure I see a difference here, unless you count the fact tht the NRL should provide a better apprenticeship...

| Eric Pollard has publicly announced that he expects MM to deliver a trophy in his first season
Now this would be fair enough if wigan had actually reached a final in recent times, but its akin to Hull KR telling Morgan to deliver a trophy in his first season, or like wise, cas telling Matterson to do it.
