Ray's a great guy, a true ambassador and enthusiast for the sport. Gone on a bit too long as a tv commentator but still better than the 2 comics on sky as he at least attempts to talk about what is happening on the pitch rather than get involved in some petty bias or trivial argument.

From the points above,I fully agree its far better just to have two in the commentary box,rather than Skys four,where they are all trying to justify their presence,whilst frankly,anybody is better than the rubbish which comes from Stevo - that man is truely damaging RL.

Sadly, Ray French needs to pack in now as a commentator. I'd hate for him to end up like Eddie Wareing, a figure of ridicule, and it's already happening.

He'd be better off used as a pundit, as he's still knowledgeable and passionate, although I do sometimes wonder whether anything that happened after 1990 has actually registered with him.

He reminds me of a player who goes on too long, drops down a division or two and ruins their legacy.

Phelps had to endure Cameron Phillips for over half a game last time round. It's beyond amateurish and is really dragging the sport down. Can't imagine any other sport would allow this!!?
