A bit of a blow but nowhere near the loss Welsby would have been. Not in the same league as him as a talent.'"
I’m not half as fussed as I would’ve been 2 years ago. Hes been a shadow of his former self since his injury.
I think it’s partly what’s being coached into him but he’s just turned into a very methodical, structured player. He rarely backs himself and his kicking game is repetitive.
All depends on how we replace him really but I can’t say I’ll particularly miss him.

| Well that was a long day and coach journey home…
Second half capitulation but wow HKR were good second half too. Mikey Lewis was superb and the pace of their ball movement had us falling off tackles and poor first contact. Very un Saints like.
Strangely enough our attack looked decent at times and Welsby looked more like his old self, scoring once and assisting every other try (from memory)
I still think Wigan will win the CC SF but boy they’ll have a hard game. Two weeks on the trot they’ve smashed Wigan and then Saints. That’s impressive.
In answer to the Dodd question, I think his injury has derailed him. Prior to that he was playing some really good RL but he’s been a shadow of himself since bar the WCC game.
He doesn’t take the line on anymore and his kicking isn’t good enough. Just another part of the rebuild we need when he’s gone.

| I suspect it will come down to their own self belief and consistency but are Hull KR maybe our biggest challengers this year? Very impressive beating both Wigan and St Helens over the last 2 weeks. Home advantage is huge for them as it is for us, Saints and Catalans. A top 2 place very important as always.
Saints ultimately not the team they were but if they have Walmsley and Paasi fit and fresh at the right time then they're still a chance.

| It’s a funny time of year this. The biggest clubs struggle for motivation, the ones who want to hit the top are going hell for leather and results can be all over the place. HKR are a good side but Saints are still the best side outside of ourselves IMO.
I can’t lie though, it is funny that their fans were all over social media last week bragging about being top while being criticised for having a poor attack and now they’re all in on calling them not fit to burn. A week is a long time in rugby league!

| Interesting videos circling of a woman in the saints end throwing a bottle and then the Saints fans trying to brawl with the Hull KR fans inside the ground.
Classic Saints mentality when things aren't going their way

I’m a bit two fold on all that. On one hand, I’ve said Saints have an element of morons following them currently and it’s lead by saddos who support Latics as well but on the other, I know from experience that those HKR fans can get a bit over excited. Somebody mentioned a quick fix of stopping HKR fans exiting via the away section and that seems easy enough and something they should implement.

| Just read redvee and you will see that the sole reason st Helen’s are so poor is down to Lewis Dodd. Not Lomax who constantly just passes to a second rower when the overlap is on. Not Percival who doesn’t know how to pass to his winger when the winger is free and not the pack who are embarrassingly soft and unfit
Nope it’s entirely Lewis Dodds fault. I don’t blame him for leaving such a dour town where no one appreciates him for Aus.

I must admit I was embarrassed by quite a few Saints fans today and not for the first time away from home. I know who she is without even watching videos as she was a few rows behind us.
We have a great away following in the main, taking big numbers and are loud but we have definitely attracted a yobbish element, lads who can’t take their ale and think they are untouchable. I went with my eldest lad today who’s 13 and my mate and his lad who is only 6.
We both said that that is probably the last time we’ll go on a coach. We normally take it in turns to drive but given the distance today and it was a Saturday afternoon we thought we’d take a coach from a pub. I’ve normally only taken coaches from the club before. After today it’s not for me. I’ll drive next time regardless of distance.

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

Sorry to hear that Stu.
Saints are a decent club and I would expect them to identify that "lady" and ban her, as should every other RL club. What did surprise me on viewing of the video was that it wasn't just adolescent kids involved, there were a lot of older fans who should have known better.
I remember the "good old days" when fans could stand together have a good bit of banter, shake hands at full time with "See you next time" regardless of how the result has gone. Very rarely was there any trouble.
Then again the licensing laws were much stricter and different.

| When we played Penrith a Saints fan was seated behind me a slagged off Wigan at every opportunity and praised Penrith likewise, however we had great banter between us and at one point he said "you are loving this" I replied "yes I am "at full time we shook hands he went on his way with the knowledge that he had seen a great game (he chose this instead of Huddersfield V St Helens) and I went away with the knowledge of Wigan had just become WCC.
Not all Saints fans are di*kheads just some and need to be weeded out and the good ones praised .
When teams that have been at the top they cannot understand why they are not anymore, sad really.
The form team are HKR,playing brilliant RL and Lewis is a fantastic player,I think we will win the CCsemi but it wont be easy.

I had this at the WCC, surrounded by morons behaving like hooligans in front of children, including their own
The bitterness in some people over a game still amazes me

Do you think Dodd’s problem down to coaching? It will be interesting to see what happens if he teams up with Bennett at South’s.
