| Quote: KingRoss11 "A lot of what has happened to us.......'" Can't disagree with this at all. I hoped we'd have a replacement for Deacs soon after he left, but it quickly became obvious we were doing stuff on the cheap. One question (rhetorical) is though: who's got the whip hand? Is it IL refusing to splash the cash, or is it Rads and/or Wane persuading him that we can cope. Is there anyone with a rugby brain actually looking at the bigger picture?
I suspect it'll be Wire & Hull in the final (we'll never hear the last of it if the Stainers get there & do one, having written them off several times over the year) and then perhaps we can have an announcement.

And just out of curiosity how many times have those seven taken the field together this season.
Personally I think a coach only has a "shelf life" of five or six seasons unless the playing staff changes by large amounts over that time.'"
You are one of the most fervent Wigan fans without a doubt Rogues and your opinions are very well thought out and balanced
So where do you stand in this Wane out debate and what are your opinions regarding how our club has regressed since his appointment?

Adrian Lam would be my first choice as our next head coach with Lockers as his assistant
Thoughts guys?

The point I was making, is that the "replacement" has to be someone is that is available, wants to come to Wigan, and has a credible CV. Not sure why some people assume Australian coaches will drop everything and come to Wigan. Theres loads to take into account, they mave have a young settled family in OZ etc etc.

Has Lam actually achieved anything coaching wise? Or are people just convinced because he played for us? Genuine question.

As I stated above, I think his time has run BUT I wouldn't have a major problem with ONE more year. To be fair to him he's been dealt a real poor hand this year with the injury situation and it's a credit to him for Wigan to be where they are (look at Leeds who have had similar problems) Should we put a director of rugby above him as Salford did? Certainly the "style" of rugby has been poor to watch, but is that down to Wane or the constant changes he's had to make? I honestly don't know, and "our group" have spent hours debating it, without resolution I've had an hours phone conversation today on the subject!!
I love the club and the game in general.
IL and KR have big decisions to make, I trust they feel the same way about Wigan RLFC as I do and have/will do the right thing.
On your point of regression, in Wanes first season we played a far more expansive game than we ever did under Maguire. Is it a case of players win games, coaches win them.
As you probably know I watch a lot of Wigan junior scholarship/ academy games and would hate us to follow the Hull model of eight overseas players in the squad, it bothers ME as an RL fan that has been allowed to happen. Maybe that's for a different discussion, but I believe it's related.

| I think we should merge our academy with Saints so we can spend a load of money elsewhere in the club and sign 5 players from the NRL. It works for some.

Mal Meninga certainly rates him as he has had Lammy in his Queensland and now his Australian back room staff
Lammy deserves a shot as head coach and as everyone knows it's not always easy to get that opportunity in the NRL
So IMO he would jump at the chance of coaching Wigan Warriors

But no-one can know what any coach would think about the prospect of coaching Wigan, not just those in Australia. We can only speculate on [ipotential[/i targets.

You do realise that we run an Under 23's team too?

You mean a reserves team? The ones that have about 5 games a year?

You've got to strike a balance. Hull have 8 in the squad yes (although Feka was only really kept because we want him for a community development role and he wasn't quite ready to hang up his boots), and that is on the high side. On the other hand 8 members of the cup final winning side were Hull lads, and our squad is packed with academy products. As it stands our overseas total for next year sits at 6.
Wigan's model of having almost a full team of local talent is very noble, but if the players aren't good enough, then what is it achieving? It helps neither Wigan or the national team. An aspiring young player will learn more by playing along side a Mark Minichiello or Sika Manu than they would just being chucked in alongside his mates from the under 19's.
