| Why do people keep saying this game would have been a guaranteed sell out if it was played at the dw? It wouldn't be anywhere near a sell out and we need to be realistic. It's disappointing if it cant be played at our home ground but there is a bit of exaggeration going on regarding number of seats needed for this one.
Whelan showing his true colours, and as a fan of both clubs he is doing no favours for relations between the 2 clubs. It's very frustrating when you remember that the whole reason the stadium got planning permission was because it was to be used by both clubs. Whelan always had getting into the premiership on his agenda... and when that planning permission was given this whole situation is something that surely must have crossed someone's mind? although with Whelan owning both clubs at the time I guess no one thought he would sell his "beloved" rugby club and start kicking them out of their own ground a few years down the line once his dream of having a prem club had been accomplished.

| Am I missing something here?
All this looks like to me is a load of speculation in the media looking to stir up a story that has no real substance.
Has Dave Whelan even said anything on the matter yet?
I don't see a problem with playing the game at the DW on Saturday, gives Latics plenty of time to turn it around and its likely they will be safe from relegation by then anyway.

| The quote is innacurate in any case, my understanding is that Miss 'J' stated that her financial ethics lie in a contrary direction in her popular song.

Hang on, isn't Humperdinck doing Eurovision this year? He must be well down with the kids, innit?

Going off track record.
The challenge cup is on it's and attendences all round have been on the low side. the last time people had to buy tickets for this fixture in the playoffs we got 12,893. add to that we are playin saints again after this match 2 weeks later. not everyone is going to be able to shell out for both those games, I know I wont be. Both are televised aswell.
your right, we would be looking at a a slightly higher crowd if we played it at home as opposed to lsv but i just think that it's an exaggeration to say the DW would be full for a challenge cup game, regardless of it being saints in a quarter final. let's just be a bit more realistic.

| i still blame the RFLs lack of foresight.
its now 9 days until the next round.
9 days to print tickets, organise stewarding/policing, hospitality, print programmes, sell tickets, fans rush to buy tickets,........not to mention in our case, finding a ground.
what was wrong with puting an extra week between the last round and this, given the potential for large demand for tickets..and a clash with the last week of footy?
could have been avoided imo...RFL at its amatuerish best again.

Yeah, if we're using LSV on Saturday, can we have it in place that they're not allowed to play rugby on it for 24hrs before our game?
They'll have to find somewhere else for their Friday night game, I'm afraid. There's a 25,000 all-seater just down the road that's free that night...
