| we wiganers have every right to feel more confident after yesterdays' result. just as wire, leeds and saints fans will be feeling too.
i see no problem with fans beleiveing their own team can win ANY game. isn't that what being a supporter is all about - i may be wrong
including the CC final and up until before yesterdays' game, wigan had not played to their full potential if you ask me and many, like myself, felt we looked jaded and in need of a rest due to the old "CC hangover" hoodoo. going into yesterdays' game a lot of wiganers including myself once again actually thought it could have been our last game of the year. instead we put in a steady performance, ok helped by a couple of dodgy calls either way in fairness, but in the end came away with an emphatic win.
wire have chosen leeds in the hope, i'd imagine, that we beat the bejesus out of each other on saturday. it will be our 6th match this year as you'll all know which for me is a little silly but still, the game is the game and i want to support my team so therefore i'll take it for what it is.
in my opinion, wigan are still the favourites, even if we'd been largely out of form and not won in a few games, being the current SL champions and CC holders carries with it the moniker of being the favourite if you ask me. we have EDGED the games between us this year apart from the most recent game, and until that were unbeaten against saints in 2011.
so again, why shouldn't we feel confident? let us be confident. by all means be confident yourselves. but the pressure is on saints whether we are the slight favourites or not.

Agreed with all your post except this bit.
No pressure on Saints at all IMO, nobody really expected us to REACH the GF, whereas lots of your fans expect you to WIN the GF.
I think Saints are likely to be going into the game with less fear of failure at the weekend. Whether that is a good thing or not, I'm not sure!

TBH the pressure isnt really on one or the other imo. Everybody with half a brain knows its going to be a huge crunch match and small margins will decide it. Both teams know they will have to pull out a good one to win this game.

There's has never been a SL playoff format where the team finishing 2nd can be eliminated by losing their first game. Do keep up
Are you aware Rugby League existed pre-SL?
I have seen Leeds finish second, then get knocked out of the end of season playoff at Headingley by 7th placed Featherstone Rovers !! (Coached by Peter Fox, who claimed afterwards he planned to finish 7th because he knew Fev would win the game )

The old Premiership format is completely different to the playoff's to decide the champions. I also remember Featherstone beating us in the first round a week before we beat Stains at Wembley in the CC Final.

Were you this vocal when Leeds finished 2nd and lost their first playoff fixtures in 2007 and 2008? Thought not

You seem to think that only Wigan's defence and pressure is capable of forcing errors. It's a bizarre viewpoint, but fair enough.'"
You weren't better in the forwards; you were dominant in the halves and at dummy half, and your defence was solid but in no way brutal. I suggest you watch the game again before you post any further. Again you're trying to force a 'one size fits all' argument on to every game. Just because you won doesn't neccessarily mean you were better in every facet of the game. It CERTAINLY doesn't mean you were dominant in every facet.
Again you're putting words in my mouth. Where did I say (or say I think) only Wigan's defence and pressure is capable of forcing errors. I notice you have singularly failed to respond to any of my previous requests to show where I supposedly wrote any of the nonsense you're spouting so I imagine this will be no different. However, if all you're going to do is make stuff up and then post a reply to something I never said in the first place then might I respectfully suggest you stop posting things like "I understand that I'm out of my depth here and of course I concede every point you've made" as it undermines your argument? (see what I did there? )

You might want to compare metres made by our pack to yours - I haven't seen the stats, but I'd imagine we'd come out on top.
If I'm wrong, fair enough. It's how I saw the game, our pack got on top.

Try reading your own posts after you've written them mate. It might prevent you making a fool of yourself!

Mate, you're clutching at straws now (and using 'facts' you don't even know exist to boot! ). We were on about defence, and specifically Wigan's brutal defence in the Catalan game, forcing errors, not about metres gained. As well you know, thre are many reasons for metres gained, not least in Saints case Roby scooting from dummy half. I've yet to see (for example) Sam Tomkins throw the ball on the floor with a 2 man overlap because someone on the opposition scooted from dummy half earlier in the game. However, if you're reduced to moving the goalposts and using 'facts', whether you know them to be true or not, I suppose the argument is conceded so we'll move on.

Brutal defence????Dont make me laugh. They only way wigan can hurt the opposition is in a 3 on 1 tackle ,with the third man attacking the knees or legs .Wigan dont know how to tackle 1 on 1 in the forwards and if you think that your pack are anywhere near as good as saints and wire you are deluded.
Take coley for instance ,an average prop who can be devastatingly brutal when hes third man into the tackle and the momentum has already been halted.

so saints win one game against a decent team and your pack is far superior and on a level with warrington? don't make me laugh, we've already proven this season on more than one occasion we can smash your pack to bits

Tommy L on Maureen Farcervarloo at KR, Mickey Mac and Lockers on the two big Catalan props on Sunday, just three examples.
