| Getting in free via St.Marys Church.
Seeing a lad sat on the high wall getting hit with the ball and falling about 12ft down the other side, not nice.
Climbing over the wall at night and playing rugby on the pitch with an imaginary ball (influeneced by Pulse at 99p a bottle from chicks)
Climbing up the flood lights and then getting scared when the wind picked up a bit.
Pinching ketchup from the burger vans - again at night.
Finding human remains at the side of the ground - this was later reported in the WEP.
And many more!

| Looking at old programmes in the 'Programme Shed' in the early 80's.
The old bloke with the 'Repent thy has sinned' sign stood outside the Pavillion every Sunday match.

| Playing rugby on the pitch at half time at an A team game.
Playing rugby in the in goal area during an A team game.
All the above involved Fat Harry.
Someone spilling a pint of p155 down the back of our legs at the Manly game. It was too rammed to get to the toilets.
Swapping ends at half time.

| What a great thread to make my first post on!!! There's too many CP memories. Some epic, some hilarious, some emotional... here's the first ones that came to mind.
Wigan v Manly... Still the greatest game ever, I was on the wall at the back of the old (pre Whitbread/Boston) stand. The noise and atmosphere would blow any grand final away.
- Watching such a range of wins, from 92-2 batterings to 2-0 mind-numbing knock-on fests.
- Martin Dermott's testimonial football match with random 'celebs'.
- Super Kel behaving like a spawning salmon.
- Kevin Ward breaking his leg (holy jeeesus it was a bad one).
– The beautiful echoing dulcet tones of 'Two-thousand pounds Gordon.'
– Stood in icy mid-winter in the Douglas Stand with your knackers freezing off supping a nice cool wobbly pint.
– Fights and tackles that would see players slammed into the boards right in front of you.
– 'Westy Westy give us a wave, Westy, give us a wave'.... followed by 'Yeaaahhh' or the rare 'Boooooo'.
- The old entry music... dit-dit-diddle-diddle dat-dat daa-daa... Aaaaargh!!!
And the players... Kiss, Goodway, Platt, Gill, Lydon, Preston, Edwards, Greg, Hampo, Blake, Shelford, The Iro Bros, Farrell, Miles, Inga, Robinson, Connelly, Paul, Offiah, Botica, Panapa, Skerrett, Cowie, Radders... the list goes on and on. One thing is certain, Wigan have had some of the best players on the planet play on that pitch.
Eeee, it's brought a tear to my eye I tell thee.

we got on about 5 mins late during a leeds game just in time to see ray mordt get the ball an inch from the touchline about 5 yards out.my brother said" he`s going in touch here", but some how he managed to knock 4 defenders off and score in the corner

Aaah, Ray Mordt's cast iron shoulder. He didn't need a gap that fella.

The quickest way from A to B is in a straight line.

| I don't remember my first trip to CP - must have been 4 (in 1962) when my uncle took me. Apparently, I was a bit bored and in the 2nd half kept asking to go home. Wigan were losing by about 8 points, so my uncle decided to leave with about 10-15 minutes left. Wigan scored 2 tries in the final 10 minutes to clinch a dramatic victory!
My first actual memories must be the summers of 63, 64 or 65 when I went to the pre season 7s tournament - balmy mid-week ( Wednesday?) August evenings when Wigan usually managed to win.
Got my 1st season ticket in 65-66 ( still got it!). Child ground ticket for the whole season cost 7 shillings and 6 pence - 37 1/2 pence. Not bad value. Having said that, so is the child's South Stand ticket at DW stadium (£13).
Manly 87 could never be matched, but those of us who were there 3 times in 5 nights for Mission Impossible in 91 (Castleford on Sunday, Widnes on Tuesday and Bradford on Thursday when Wigan came back from approx 18-0 down with 25 minutes to go to snatch a draw) will also never forget!
I still wish Wigan could have stayed at CP and developed it further ( another stand at the Spion Kop end). Unfortunately, we ultimately had to do what DW wanted.

| Bradford at home.
On a wet and a cold night and for some reason it strikes me as being a week night although dont quote me on that.
We won by a very unusual score and Gary Connolly scored late on with a 1 on 1 ball steal to win the game.
I was only about 6 i think, but the atmosphere was great.
