Walmsley will play next week but he’s clearly done something to that knee. I’m sure he’ll be a target anyway but they really need to go after him and test him out early doors and keep making him defend.

Out of interest, which refs do you like and why? Do you think it's easy to strike the right balance between being arrogant and assertive? Bear in mind the players are mainly older than him and hyped up, and every single word he says is recorded and potentially used against him later by coaches.

He was backed into a corner with the sin bin IMO because he's literally just warned them that if they carry on running in then he'll bin people. If there's no card there he totally loses all credibility.

As a sport we really need to do something about the obstruction on kick chasers. That grace try was scored on the back of a blatant one. All teams do it, some more than others but it needs to be addressed.

I certainly wouldn't be approaching it with words like "boys" or "lads". If I was speaking to a player then a first name would certainly be more professional and I'd call them players too "Remi, there's been a few high tackles during the game. Speak to your players". You also don't need him talking down to players with phrases like "semi final, or no semi final" I'm pretty sure the players know what's at stake.

Genuinely (& I know where this will go) I don't like any refs. It's mostly because of how protected they are by the RFL and fans - if anyone raises an objection to a ref decision then you're instantly shot down on it.

Fair enough. I'd suggest your standards are unrealistic if you don't like any of them though. Are you sure they are so protected? The three most experienced refs are out in the cold at the moment, two of which have quite a few finals between them.

I just hope the Saints fans can find some enthusiasm for it. In the build up to tonight the general feeling on Red Vee seemed to be that it’ll be a meaningless title win anyway given all the issues the games faced.
