I get what you and JohnH are saying about creativity and giving players a bit of scope to try things though, and I was bloody bored under Wane. If it was a deeper kick for French to chase I'd be more understanding, Burgess isn't in the kind of form to be giving him a low percentage play to try IMO. We need to get the ball in French's hands more, in space ideally.'"
From memory I thought it was the 5th? But even so IMO the way Cas were flying off the line it was proving difficult just to get a kick away never mind get any depth on it (we were inside our own 20).
Whilst a brave play i think it was an ok option as turning the ball over with a scrum and a breather with a set defence may have been the better option than a rushed weak kick with the FB or wingers catching it on their 40 and possibly making it back to our 40 but with an unorganised defence.
The only thing wrong IMO is geaorge should have kicked it 10/15 yards further ahead and I'm sure Budgie would have made it and if he didn't the scrum would have been up past the 40

| It wasn’t the last tackle. I remember thinking at the time Wane would kill him.

| There are several players who developed at the club under Wane so of course some Wan's influence is still there. Lam has given licence to the players to express themselves in some parts of the field. The fact that Wigan's defence has improved of late and that the backs were running through brick walls again might actually be the influence of John Winder. Remember that he was retained to provide some continuity.

| Lam’s biggest influence on an individual has been on Sam Powell. He’s so much better now he’s mixing his game up and isn’t predictable. I thought he was brilliant last night in his control of the game, with his defensive efforts being backed up by a lovely kicking game.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

Fans have almost unanimously been demanding more excitement. We get a bit and people whinge as it didn’t come off.

Tbf I do think that Noble doesn't get as much credit as he deserves.
His appointment stopped the rot and whilst he took us as far as he could, he potentially started the mentality thing. If you remember back in the day Noble had a bit of a rep for his teams turning it on at playoffs time. I have no doubt plenty of guys learnt some stuff from that and took it forward into the Madge and Wane era's.
Madge was the main guy tho. He took an good, but underachieving, team and made them into GF winners over the course of one pre season. He introduced a new system in attack and defence and everyone bought into it.

| Quote: The_Enforcer "Not to try and take anything away from Lam but our performances of late have really shown the steel that Wane built in to the core of this team over the years. The defence and the willingness of the backs to run through brick walls with the ability to keep turning up making tackle after tackle, set after set near our own line is mainly down to the work of Wane. Lam can take a lot of credit for varying the attack and the much better attacking shape but the determination and doggedness comes from the Wane era. We must be a horrible team to play against when we play like we did tonight. The only problem i fear is that we are due an off day after such a long winning streak and mammoth effort to get second place.'"
Wane?... you've gone through a horrid 8 months partly because of Wane... attendance down nearly 1/3 since he became 1st team coach...
A catalogue of off field embarrassments....Had he had have been something to be thankful for...there wouldn't have been the diabolical Edwards scenario.
Lam comes out of this with.so much credit...he literally has managed to polish up a shat.
Lam has gone up massively in my opinion of him and he would be my coach of the year.

I get you, but there's a difference between playing exciting rugby and throwing the ball away in your own 30 on 4th tackle when they have been building up pressure on our line. It's not even like it almost worked; if Burgess catches it then he's still getting bundled into touch.

no he wouldnt as the winger had turned and was behind him, if burgess still had any pace or gave a damn he would have got it and had the fullback to beat. If it had been the other wing it would have been interesting
