Sam had a stinker (has he started to believe his own hype?), Lockers was awesome, Smith had a torrid day in defence, Allibert is irrational, but consistent with it.

I could be wrong but it seems to me that Cas's pitch is on a slight but noticeable slope. I'm pretty sure we were attacking uphill in the 2nd half, stands to reason that of the two tiring teams the one running downhill will score more.

Get him in the halves where he doesn't have to run the full length of the field and defend too much.

Great game between two good sides shame their had to be a loser but that's life.

What a game of Rugby League! I know Waney will have wanted us to be out of sight but dont be too harsh on them Waney it was a cracking game for the fans and i really think if we cast our minds back to the pre-season Marine Camp which was purley to build mental toughness thats paid dividends and got us over the line. Our backs did not help our forwards at all in this game and every one of our forwards were out on their feet at some points in the game due to the constant tackling up the middle. Cas certainly started to flow with the momentum but the try at the end was a perfect ending to the game. Webster and Carney were a complete mismatch in size for Hughes and Charnley and that certainly showed. Love him or hate him rangi chase is dangerous when he gets the ball and i think for the majority of the game we kept him in check so well done to our forwards. If someone would have told me we would be second in the league before the weekend i would have laughed looking at the other fixtures so happy with the outome of our trip to Cas

Tomkins was on the line, it was right in front of me - both feet actually - don't let his whinging put you off that.

That being said, after being sinbinned for dissent last week, and whinging at the lineo this week, it's a worry that he seems to be a little bit up-himself over his can of soup, but that's what being a pin-up for rugby league will do I suppose...

Anyway, a really tough game to call when we got back into it, thoroughly enjoyable game and a great advert for the sport.

Just disappointing that I still haven't seen a cnsistent referee.

Entertaining game.

What really stood out for me is the improvement in Castleford and particularly some of their new signings. I thought Hauraki from Leeds played well and caused us some problems with some strong running down the middle, I was a bit suprised when Leeds let him go but he seems to have settled in very well as Castelford.

Another player to catch the eye was the young scrum-half and goal kicker Jamie Ellis, he never gave up and seemed to have a good understanding with Chase - that combination will cause plenty of teams problems this season and Ellis looks to be just the sort of player Castleford have lacked recently - when he kicked the 40/20 I really feared for Wigan.

Webster is a beast and full of class, he really used his experience to cause our young back line problems and he is the kind of player that you would like to see covered by a George Carmont but he really flourished against our inexperienced back line.

Point worth noting for Cas fans, Watch Boots and All this week and learn what a forward pass is, it seems to happen a lot whenever we travel to either Wakefield or Castleford it's always the refs fault and you always seem to hurl unneccesary abuse at them, Leeds united play just down the road i suggest you follow them in future. Desicions go for you sometimes and sometimes they dont but first half we were penalised 7 to your 1 so you cant blame the ref for losing but it was a great game overall!

And in the second half we were penalised 5-1. Crucially, Mr Alibert failed to notice 2 head high tackles Daz Clark, maybe it was because it was 22-22 and we'd of kicked to take the lead. There's just a feeling that sometimes the smaller clubs, don't get the rub of the green when playing the bigger teams from the officials. Maybe you guys will feel that sense of injustice when you play the likes of Leeds & Warrington.

It was funny watching the highlights every time a pass went flat to the first man the crowd shouted forward and when the ball went out the back to the second man you'd get appeals for obstruction.

Every time Sam has a bit of an 'off day', he's suddenly believing his own hype. He's not going to be superhuman every time he plays. Still think his shoulder is worrying him, and he went down injured after a turnover on our own line too. Just hoping we haven't rushed him back too soon.

As for the game, enjoyed it thoroughly and were lucky to come out on the right side of the score line. Webster and Carney look a class act on that left hand side for Castleford.
