| Quote Cruncher="Cruncher"I'd agree that Roberts so far has been disppointing.
But people expecting another Offiah were bound to be disgruntled. Even Offiah would struggle to score under Brian Noble, because our current style does not encourage 'flare and instinct' players.
I worry that some of this anti-Roberts feeling stems from the Ainscough business. I don't think that Roberts has been particularly better than Ainscough since he arrived at Wigan, though at least he goes up for the ball rather than watching it land in the attacking winger's arms (having said that, he usually then drops it so why bother?), but Roberts plays on the right and Ainscough on the left. Does that not make a difference? In my own playing days, I knew many three-quarters who favoured one particular side, and were nowhere near as effective on the other. If that's the case, then drawing comparisons between Ainscough and Roberts is a bit pointless. Surely we should be drawing them between Ainscough and Richards, which would be a 'no contest'.'"
Why are we signing expensive wingers if we do not need them?

| I do think that with a new caoch we may well see some of those rates improve dramatically, while others may fall slightly, but the gains will far outweight the small losses.

You're asking the wrong person. But he's a Wigan player now, and I'm prepared to give him my support until such time as he categorically proves he isn't worth it.
On a not unrelated subject, he's yet another player who was very good before he came to Wigan. Perhaps that should be a bigger cause for concern.

Ethic at the club attitutde and most importantly poor conditioning in my opinion plays a major part in seeing our NRL imports fall short of what is expected.
Generally we sign athletic players, and end up with average SL bog standard athletes after an offseason in England. The new coach must bring in either an NRL conditioning coach or a top coach from outside of the game to sort this out.

By all means give him support, but he should never of been signed IMO.

Completely agree, hindsight would be nice, but then again the club didn't need it, they should have predicted better in regards to Ainscough coming through.

True, but there again Richards has his goal kicking, which brings him up closer to Shaun in value...
It was noticeable on Sunday, though, that without Hock our left/right balance is a lot more even. We do need a right-sided half back to play alongside Sam, though - someone like Myler, for example?

Not just Ainscough, we would of been fine with Colbon for another year with a good centre. He was pretty quick solid enough on a low wage and could finish better than Roberts.

| Quote Bilko="Bilko"His career strike rate is 56%'"
where can we find strike rates bilks?
im curious as to how roberts compares career wise to someone like Dallas, or homegrown like Robinson and Offiah.
im not going back to bostons era as i believe defenses wernt as good then as now, although his tries still needed scoring.

Add to the fact we had Phelps, Pryce and Mathers and players like Vuna were coming off contract this year it makes the decison to sign him very silly indeed.
