| I've never been agianst noble as coach, up until now.
Last night set me thinking, for 3 seasons we have watched wigan play well one week and then l undue all their work the next week. Some of the rugby we are playing is poor, has been all season apart from saints and a 20 minute spell agianst Salford.
We have an all most entirely new squad compared with when noble took over and we still don't know how to win tight games.
We are desperate for a prop who can instill some fear into the players opposite him.
Even if we bring a new prop in though, even if he exactly fits the bill, will that fix our problems? I don't think so somehow. IL is doing a fantastic job, signing the best players he can with the money available, but I think it's time for a new coach to lead those players. Who is an entirely different question

It will be a good season if we win the Challenge Cup, which is certainly a possibility.
Secondly, getting rid of the coach is not going to get our players to catch the ball or stop giving away penalties. NOble needs to start dropping some of our supposed 'superstars'.

A coach who actually coaches the technical aspects of the game would. Given our failure to improve in this aspect over the last 3 years we can only assume firstly he does not, or if he does he is very poor at it, either way not good enough.

| Looking around at our squad, it is more than capable of being top 3.
Realistically, 3rd is the lowest position that we should ever be in.
However - Brian Noble (as has been said before) is a one-"plan" man, and I struggle to call what he sends the team out with a "plan".
Yesterday, we spent half the match with our wingers in the prop positions, looking for work. We had Andy Coley at a couple of points, on the wing, trying to make a break.
The defence got sucked in to centre-field just about every time, leaving us open to the wide attack.
Personally, I wouldn't change much about the squad membership. The players we have are fine (although I'm not saying that an extra, nasty prop wouldn't go amiss).
What we need is someone in charge who can either do, or organise, the followingall up to their peak form
Teamwork - They need to start playing for each other, every week
Defence - Sack Vievers - In the words of Jim, "Defensive Coach - My árse"
Respect - The players need to be made to respect the coach, each other, the ball and most of all, the Wigan tradition/expectation.
And finally, the biggest oneNOT the man for Wigan any more.
We need someone with fresh ideas, motivational skills, a new fitness team/regime and some idea of how a game plan needs to evolve both over the course of a game, and a season.

I would hardly class catching a ball as a 'technical aspect of the game'. If these players need to be coached at this then they should be booted out.
It is easy to attack the coach but it is not his fault they can't catch. Perhaps NOble needs to start dropping more players to drive his point across.

Why exactly? Because we are Wigan? What is special about this squad? It is full of nobodies, or could be greats if they were not mental baskets.

| Simply because, when I look honestly at the skills levels of the individuals in our team, it is far higher than the skill levels of most other teams in Superleague.
The trouble is that they only play as individuals (other than the odd, rare game that gives us all false hope. e.g. Saints)
We need someone to mold all of these undoubtedly talented individuals into a cohesive unit. In other words - A team.

I really worry that the coaches are of the same opinion. You constantly need to practice and refine basic skills the Aussies hammer the basic skill drills, rarely do we it seems consider it.
Once a player gets in a first team squad in SL it is assumed they should have all the skill set and it is rarely coached, in the basic form.
Regardless of if you are a GB player or novice at a clubs basic skills must be coached and practised, if they are ignored you get exactly what we see at Wigan most weeks and also what England provided us with in the World Cup.
The Aussies do the little things right, it is no coincidence players from the NRl seem to go backwards when they sign for Wigan as the skills simply are no longer coached and they start to deteriorate.

It's not all the same players from the semi finals. And I'm not impressed that they won one game against saints either. We should be winning a majority of games.
The team is not good enough.

| Sorry Mr Noble but you should pick up your P45 on Monday when you go to clear your desk at Orrell. I really wanted us to be successful under Noble as there is nobody at the club wants to win things more than him. I spent a few days working at Orrell last season and the work the guy puts in is unbelievable. I have defended now as much as I can and now believe the time has come to say goodbye. If we bring a new coach in now he has the chance to get us to Wembley, get us in the play-offs and possibly to Old Trafford. All a long shot I know just as staying up was when Noble came here. If we bring in a new coach he has half a season to look at the squad and see who he wants to keep, ship out and bring in. If we do this at the end of the season we have only a few weeks before the players are back in pre season and the players signed will be Noble’s players signed for a new coach. Sorry Brian but its time to say goodbye.

| If I were IL the first thing I would do would be to sign Morley, he is just what we need and could do it for another 1 or 2 seasons - Short term fixed.
I would sign LMS and make a play for Burgess, sign Briscoe and Myler. - Long term fixed.
Sign Brian Smith as coach (if he wants to come if not I would give Noble more time to work with the new players).
If the signing of the players require transfer fees then so be it.
Morley £30 000
Burgess £100 000
Briscoe £70 000
Myler £200 000
LMS £80 000
An estimate of what their clubs would want to let them join us.
To leave - Phelps, Bailey, Coley, Prescott (loan), Smith.

Performences indicate that these 'undoubtedly talented individuals' are not as good as we, or perhaps even they, believe they are.
We are average. Our backline is good, our pack is woeful. Especially the props.

How can they be unrealistic? Its simple would you want to play for a massive club averaging 15 000 a game in a good stadium will top class facilities on the way up.
Or
Stay at a small club with 5000 a game in a crap stadium doing better than they should be?
On that basis we could sign Myler and LMS and money talks with Burgess and Briscoe wouldn't turn down the chance to join his hometown club.

| For £100k you'd better be talking about Luke Burgess, cos Sam would cost at least 3 times that.
