Come on Nobby haters let it drop.'"
J Tomkins - Picked because O'Loughlin was injured last year.
Goulding - Bit of an iffy one - was already gettin first team games when nobby was here
Prescott - He's 23!!
S Tomkins - Picked because Micky Mac was banned
Ainscough - Picked because Phelps is injured and Mathers was banned, lets face it if mathers only got one match ban we wouldnt have seen ainscough yet.
O'Carroll - Ill give you that one O'Carroll has come on leaps and bounds since nobby came.

Joel Tomkins brought through by Millward. Only given a chance by Noble when he had no choice.
O'Carrol and Prescott deemed not good enough by Noble who tried everything to sign a prop.
Goulding brought through by Millward, dropped umpteen times by Noble.
Sam Tomkins and Shaun Ainscough only selected when Noble had little choice.

J Tomkins, S Tomkins and Ainscough only got a chance due to there being no other options.
Goulding is being given a chance and fair play, sadly he does not seem to be taking it, but i would put him in the bracket with Prescott as already being given a chance prior to the arrival of Noble, which i think O'Carroll was also.
Very few lads have been given a chance by Noble, and when they have been it has been when his hand has been forced, which if you are a top team performing well is often the way, but if you are a team performing as poorly as we have for the last 2 years is a different matter.

WHAT??!!??
This is the man who's made a career out of picking his mates and out of date combinations that don't work! For example, the only time GB had a convincing win under him was when he was FORCED to play Leon Pryce at stand off against Australia. The following week, Pryce is back on the wing and that nobody Richard Horne is in.
This is obviously in addition to the fans screaming for the youngsters to be played, when he persists in playing overpaid, lazy Aussies.
At least be honest with us, Brian, if not with yourself.'"
on that point, i've been meaning to scan in an article from RL world rag from last year where they did a bit piece on noble, along with a small section on the bit highlighted "i'm a big believer of giving youth a chance"
Thought it might make interesting reading for you kids.

| Quote: Mr Potato Head "Kevin Brown is a successful first grade player with Huddersfield. James Roby, James Graham and Clough are weekly selections for St Helens, selected younger than when Noble gives a oung player the odd game. Eastmond has to displace Long. Wigan look a far better team for having young players in the first team.'"
The point is Huddersfield have benefited by Wigan putting Brown in too soon and expecting too much from him and he crumbled but now hes bulit himself up at an older age. Graham Roby and Clough have been brought in gradually and had good protection and thats the example we should follow.
Graham debuted in 2003 and gradually brought through full time, and Roby in 2004 and brought through over the period of 2 or 3 years before they were regular first teamers.

| Quote: ROBINSON "McGuire returned, who at the time was far inferior to Pryce, as both results and performance proved beyond any doubt whatsoever. McGuire also did not gel with Sean Long, whereas Pryce had a world class combination going with Long.
So, yes, my argument is very convincing.'"
Not really when you said he put Pryce on the wing for Horne. Didnt happen.

We hit the panic button with Brown. Graham and Roby have not been protected. They never needed it which contradicts the Noble duty of care garbage.

| Each you player needs handling differently, there is no right or wrong in this debate, there is no set model for every young player, each player needs bringing through and developing at a rate solely specific to them.
Comparing Graham with Brown or any other young player is not relevant because we are dealing with 2 different athletes involved with 2 different clubs.

Exactly and as much as some people would disagree with me I would rather leave that to professional coaches rather than myself or any "experts" on here.

Didn't say that.
What he did was play Pryce at Stand off when McGuire was injured. This is despite the fact he should have played Pryce there from the off (either that, or played Burrow instead of Long). His hand was forced, in the same way that his hand was forced to play Tomkins last week, and Ainscough the week before.
Sean Long spat his dummy out and went home. Pryce was promptly plonked back on the wing, and Richard Horne was brought in at scrum half, with McGuire at Stand off.
What is the sense in that? At the time, Pryce was GB's best stand off, bar none, and McGuire was hopeless with anyone except Burrow at the side of him.
The team should have effectively picked itself, yet Noble ignored the obvious combinations. He continues to do this to this day, unless his hand is forced of course.

Rubbish, every academy player needs guidance and protection during their time from academy to first team. Too many players at Wigan got threw in at the deep end and now we are following the way Saints brought these 2 through. When i say protected i dont mean they had people making tackles for them or holding their hands i mean in the way the players are prepared and advised. All comes under the coaching. Protection from overuse, theyre bodies are still developing and are going against big hard experienced men, ie given games and taken out to stop fatigue becoming a problem in their muscles and causing injury. Too many players by the time they are 30 are burnt out not in their peak, look at what happened to Rads, Sculthorpe, Faz just to name a few.

| There is nothing wrong with that statement.
Was or was not Pryce put back on the wing, and was or was not Richard Horne brought into the side in the same match?
Feel free to check before replying.

| Has Noble stuck with:
O Carroll
J Tomkins
Ainscough
Since they played well for the club this season? Yes.
We all would have dropped Goulding. McClorum was getting more and more game time before his suspension. Prescott was injured.
So give the guy a break, he clearly does value our young lads. I didn't see Mathers anywhere this week, he could have dropped Ainscough for him but he didn't.
