What are you on about putting words in your mouth? I’ve asked you a question that’s all! I would have thought that was an easy one for you to answer, especially given that you know that I have never seen Murphy play and yet you have never met me.

| Enjoyable game last night - Saints poor with the ball and vulnerable out wide but still a great defensive side in the middle of the field.
Did leave me wondering though whether Liam Moore actually knows what a chargedown is? He didn't restart the set after Huddersfield charged down the initial drop goal attempt - brought back memories of Wigan Challenge cup semi final last year.

| Two try’s one off an interception and one was a barge over which if Connor was paying attention would have been harder to score you’d imagine. They look to be reliant on putting small kick in to score. Saints just seem predictable. I will applaud there intensity that last 20 they turned it on. Huddersfield really looked good was impressed with their. Kick chase. They should have targeted that hurrell Makinson side more hurrell look like he was running in treacle at times

| Big pressure on their forwards to maintain their standards now that Walmsley is out for a decent spell. Paasi isn't too far away apparently, they could seriously do with him hitting the ground running.

| The first half was as flat as I've seen Saints on both sides of the ball for a long while. Even against Wire in the cup we didn't see that lack of intensity. If Huddersfield had Marsters alongside Swift I reckon they've been another score or two clear but Bibby had an absolute nightmare. As usual with Saints, they show fight and desire and managed to hang on and turn it but they won't be able to afford too many performances like that against Wigan, Wire, Catalans etc. If they play like that away at HKR next week they'll get 30 points put on them.

| I pay no mind to a guy like Robbie, he’s clearly a deeply unhappy individual, with not a fat lot going on in his life. I always feel pitty for him tbh.
I can’t lie though, I pay attention to Yellow Giraffe finding the courage to put an emoji against my post but not to comment. It’s been a while! Come in YG, get yourself involved. What did I say there which is wrong? Saints were so flat in that first half and lose comfortably next week if they turn up in similar shape. Tonight surely only adds weight to that opinion, no?

| Lewis Dodd to Souths…..shows how small the pool of quality halves has become in the NRL.
Good on him though for backing himself.

| I back Dodd to do well over there. The fact that our attack has been exactly the same since he’s been out shows he’s not the problem. His kicking is usually fairly on point, he’s just being instructed to basically do nothing other than give it to the opposition in the corner with them. I think he’s a very talented player and will do well under a better coaching structure.
He looked like he was about to be genuinely world class before his injury. He’s certainly lost a bit of pace since that which has affected his threat, but he’s been much better this year I think. His defence is very very good as well
Hope he does well anyway!

If people thought he looked on his way to being ‘world class’ when he was in his first 12-18 months in the Saints first team, I think that sort of highlights the issues he’s faced since, in that expectation was clearly too high. He looked like he could be a very good player but World Class? Not for me. There have always been too many weaknesses and not enough stand out strengths to ever think he could hit those heights.
World class half backs can pretty much do it all, yet even in the early days for Dodd, there wasn’t much of a passing game, much of a kicking game etc. His big breakthrough season was 2021 and he got 7 assists all year. He was playing in a fabulous team and played a real part in the success but I think we can file him under a long list of players ‘some’ Saints fans billed as being the best in their position in the country, when it probably wasn’t the case. It was the days of the old ‘Wigan wouldn’t get a player in a combined 17’ claims.

| I agree with Stu/The Reaper, I think the way Dodd plays fits with the style of play in the NRL. It will be interesting to see what Saints do to replace him. It is not easy when you lose homegrown talent.
