Mind you they could still be suffering from WCC in Aus so time to bounce back I think.'"
They’d nearly got over that but the clocks changing has put them off kilter again and don’t even start on the trip to France.

| Prior to the game on Good Friday I was confident that if we remained relatively error free, maintained good discipline and kicked Saints into their own twenty then we would win. I did also predict that it would probably be a low scoring affair due to the poor forecast.
Well our discipline was shocking and we made numerous costly errors, yet only succumbed very late on from a winning position with only twelve players.
Why was I so confident beforehand? Put simply Saints these days seem unable to attack from deep to score (and if/when they do its very rare). Would love to compare Makinson's tries over the last two seasons to Marshall's. Field's to Welsby's, Lomax's to French.
Give Saints a penalty in your own half and you're asking for bother. Make them come away from their own line and its comfortable. This is where we failed Good Friday.
That said they play Hull FC at home at the weekend, if they don't score 6-8 tries against them lot (at best) or even get beat again then they really are struggling, obviously can't see this happening as FC are shocking so should be a easy win.

| Medium term - Saints obviously have a pretty serious rebuild to take on in the next few years. Really does make you think that they should've been more ruthless with the length of the contracts they've been giving out recently.
This year, it's all going to be about if they can get their troops fit and ready for the back end. Going out of the cup will give them up to couple of weeks off and means they can focus on just getting the job done in the league. If they can put out a near first choice team in the play offs then they'll be thinking they can beat anyone in a one-off arm wrestle. I certainly wouldn't swap with them though.

| I feel sorry for Wellens in a way. I liked him as a player. Not a 'Charlie Big Timer' just a solid good pro and i like him as a man. The way he conducts himself in his position. He has been dealt a bit of a ty hand like Moyes did at Utd. The last coach got the very last bits out of an ageing side and passed it on to the next man. I don't think Saints fans just realise how much of a rebuild they have on. Players like Bennison and Wingfield are nowhere near the level and are in the 17. Then they have the obvious ones that are on the way out. It's a near complete rebuild. I fear that Saints fans will vilify ellens like they did with Cunningham.
As a Wigan fan i can't wait to enjoy it but it will be at the expense of Wellens, alas, i will take it though. No way do i condone any sort of abuse to his family though. It is just a game at the end of the day, though, one that consumes us.

| The Wellens abuse online doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Saints seem to have got a bit of a football style element of fans who’ve jumped on board in recent seasons. Abuse of oppositions fans and players is a 7 day hobby for football fans and they’ll turn on their own in quick time. The sort of ones I’m referring to, were the lads giving it to their own fans in advance of last years Good Friday game, saying they’d sit where they wanted and would be telling people to do one if they challenged them (they weren’t that polite though). Social media is littered with them.

| The abuse of Wellens and his family is awful and is a sad sign of the times we live in. Part of the reason i love rugby league is the mostly good natured banter that fans have with each other. I'm a Saints fan and have worked over the years with a lot of Wigan fans and we ribbed each other about wins and trophies etc,but it was good natured fun and above all we had our love of rugby above petty differences. It sometimes seems that we are moving away from that now and it's sad.

Agree 100% about some of our fans had idiots throwing bottles on the pitch last week.

| I'd imagine a few of them are relative newcomers to the Saints brand. Aka they jumped on the 'winning everything' bandwagon of a few years ago. They're too immature or too self-entitled, or both, to understand that success comes in waves, and are now not prepared to accept the possibility the good times may be ending for a while. That wasn't what they signed up for, and how dare Wellens and the Saints team betray them like this.
It must fall to the rest of the Saints faithful to put them right.

I agree it is upto the saints faithful to inform them that they are not as good as they think they are and must accept as a dominant force in RL it no longer applies to them.
Even Wire will move above Saints
