4486_1428087820.png Newsnight 13th May 2010: "With the role of Deputy Prime Minister a non-job. Has Nick Clegg gone from King Maker to tea maker????"
I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew

Do you think Chase had a better season than Roby?'" well you should be because however much you try and change the subject, i pointed out it was a vote by peers, so what would my or your opinion matter you dingbat! this not only makes you look stupid but makes it obvious you miss the whole point of a debate.
in your eyes it works like this.
1. make a statement.
2. when some one disagrees or makes you look stupid ask a totally unrelated question in order to cover up your stupidity!
mmmm very clever mister bond!

Resorting to insults... that's a sure sign you've lost the argument.
How is the question of whether Roby should have won the MoS instead of Chase unrelated to this debate? What a bizarre thing to say. I wasn't changing the subject, but taking the Wigan factor out of the equation (because clearly I can be accused - as a Wigan fan - of favouring Wigan players) when arguing that the decision was a joke. That accusation can't be levelled against me when it comes to a Saint! I'd rather a Saints player wasn't better than a Cas player, but Roby had an amazing season and he deserves to be ranked ahead of Chase. I wish it weren't true, but it is and it means Chase's award is a mistake.
And as for expressing a view, why shouldn't I be allowed to express my opinion? Judging by vote by those supposedly in the know doesn't mean the result must always be right.... or are you the kind of person that thinks Dances with Wolves is a better film than Goodfellas because it won that year's Best Picture Oscar (or that the Shawshank Redemption isn't a great film because it didn't win a single Oscar...)? You really should make your own mind up rather than following the herd.

Chase looked like what he is, a gamble on a half that 35% of the time can come up with the goods, but 65% of the time will fall flat on his arris.
Roby is the better player.

i think that reflect not only an overgrown sense of your own importance but also is a massive slap in the face for all the pro players who have played against chase all season and then voted him as a worthy adversary and rightfull winner of the man of steel award!
then to go on and make judgements about me when you've never even met me/ held any kind of meaningfull discussion on this forum allows me to repay the compliment. you ,my lad, are some one who despite deep down inside know you are wrong will slip and slide your way out of admitting it by any means available! you'll change the subject, make unfounded and quite frankly ridiculous comments like "resorting to insults... a sure sign you've lost the arguement"
(i'd love to know who taught you that? or did you just make it up?)
i've never been one to "follow the herd" and am fully able to judge some one/thing on it's own merits. and for what it's worth dabcing with wolves was the biggest pile of e i've ever seen! ( so your bet was wrong)
now my prediction is i bet your still not willing to admit that chase was worthy of the man of steel award because it's an award voted for by peers rather than any one else & because he won (ie, recieved the most votes) that kind of indicates his peers felt he was the player most deserving of the award!

You're right about one thing: I'm not willing to admit that Chase was worthy of the Man of Steel award. Because he wasn't.

| Just like to point out, MOS is chosen by fellow professionals during the regular season, not play off rugby, not the Grand Final and not international rugby, so look at the facts before coming out with these pointless comments, sick of hearing people moaning about Chase, he got MOS for performances in the black and amber not the white and red, so can we please now shut the f**k up about it and move on.

The "moaning" is inevitable - he's supposed to be the British game's top player. He's either a world class player who is seriously underperforming or the MoS is a joke.

| I totally agree that hes been very poor for England, just cant understand why he isnt playing to his full potential but seriously i went to around 25 Cas matches last season and he was superb, he could quite easily have got MOM in just about every game due to his contribution, its as if its a different player out there, just dont get it.

| I thought Chase was one of our more threatening attackers yesterday.
Great day, great atmosphere and great to see rugby league internationals back at Wembley.

| Can't be bothered going in to the man of steel debate again. I think the wrong man got it and yesterday pretty much nailed that theory.
Talking about the man that did get it though he had a real mixed bag yesterday but he is a genuine threat with ball in hand. I would like to see him play alongside Widdop with him just being given the instructions to run at them and create gaps. I'd give Widdop the kicking responsibilities and ask him to lead us about the place.
Sinfield just isn't good enough for this level and is again proving it.
