| I invited the old fella from my local, a Bath fan, to the (another) pub to watch the game, and I was glad it was a great advert for our sport, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Great to see our attack looking so sharp and inventive, but that was certainly two pretty soft tries conceded, so just as well we were on song in attack. Gelling was indeed terrific. It didn't go for Sarge tonight, but any Superleague side should envy our centre pairing.

| think the original line is a bit ott, Gelling had a good game certainly, if he keeps going in the direction he is then maybe, yes. I'd also put a shout out for Tautai too. Much better, needs to keep working with whoever's put the horseradish up his jacksie.

Good on yah! Hope you both had a good evening.

I'd agree with that summary in general; though I'm not generous enough to say Gelling was 'terrific'.
He certainly had the best game I've seen him have, and his progression since he joined is evident; still Captain Daft at times though - probably always will be!
He's got great pace and size and is now utilising that to much greater effect.
I'm not sure he's got the rugby brain to make the most of those natural attributes, so he's probably always going to annoy the hell out of me to an extent.
Best performance by a Wigan 3/4 in 10years - no.
Best performance by A Gelling in a Wigan shirt -yes.

| The first try from Manfredi after the interplay between Joel and Gelling was as good a team try as I've seen from us in a long time. Really great to see us offloading the ball as it made us a threat every time we attacked. Is it a coincidence that we seemed to get more go forward from our middle when Warrington realised that we might be offloading more than usual?

How many others? Sarge, maybe, but that's it. It's good that Rocky's getting loads of support but you still can't get away from the fact that he's far from the finished article some on here would have you believe. Still, our FB slot is sorted for next season anyway.

Going off that comment, we could have given them Sarginson on the other side and had a few easy tries.
To say Gelling was the difference doesn't reflect how effective our attack was last night.

Bateman was superb again I thought.
Fitting Lockers back in to the side is becoming an issue and a very good one. He obviously plays but who for? Faz is back to his best, Bateman has been top class all year and Joel was outstanding last night and is having a top season.
Good problems.

| My thread title is possible a little OTT
However i am really struggling to recall a Wigan three quarter causing so much damage during one game. George was (IMO) our best centre in the last 5 years. However i never saw him as 'busy' as gelling was last night during a single game.
Ive rated this lad for since day one. Its really great seeing him do what he has always looked to be capable of

| Why are some people so intent on not giving Gelling the praise he deserves? Is it stubbornness due to so many having criticised him relentlessly since he joined?
He had a brilliant game last night. It's not his first, nor will it be his last.

| The side of attack with Tomkins, Gelling & Manfredi is looking formidable at the moment. Gelling was good, but my man of the match was Joel Tomkins. Absolute machine last night.

Not singling out anyone, but our marker defence was poor, especially that first 20 mins when we were making Higham look good. Also the big missed tackle for Currie's try...might have been Smith, not sure. Not had chance to watch the TV coverage yet but that's what stuck out at the match, for me.

I agree and rotation would be one answer to the Lockers dilemma, hoping all keep fit that is. I’ve always believed in Gelling’s ability, but not on the wing. He does have you on the edge at times when his brain goes into melt down but we must remember he’s not yet the finished article. IMO Josh Charnley has is work cut out to get his place back from Manfredi, and for one I’m glad. I know he’s had injuries but even when fit he seems not as sharp as was so a bit of place competition won’t do him any harm. My advice to him would be to cut down on the time he gives to social media, and dreaming about strange new styles in his coiffure, and concentrate bit more on his job.
