| Quote roundpeg21="roundpeg21"=roundpeg21=cant understand why the linesmen and Bentham did not see the first challenge by hohaia ;a forearm smash to the head is serious and flower did take exception to this but when he decked him that should have been enough but when the red mist descends you have no control.wellen {the second referee}was going berserk and roused the lineman to take action.defo a red card.st.helens from the kick off were out to cause mayhem was it two penalties on the bounce.is LMS chained up after every match.hohaia will be let off for his part in all this as being flattened is punishment enough.'"
Hohaia retaliated... Flower started it all by smacking him in the back of the head when he'd turned his back on him to watch the kick. It was Hohaia who was acting under the effects of the red mist... But let's not let facts get in the way of a good excuse for a defeat, eh?
Nice grammar by the way. Your teachers must be very proud.

| An inconsistent performance I agree. Wigan drive the Saints player into touch but yet he called held despite he was still moving - Saints play the ball.
Saints drive Burgess into touch in exactly the same way - scrum to Saints!

Correction the tone of the match was set by that 9 minute fatman shoulder charging a Wigan player in the first tackle. Hohaia then does what he does best - niggling play - hence the attempted obstruction on Flower.
An attempted jaw breaker was always going to result in a runners up medal for Lance. Flowers mistake was the second punch - job done with the first punch !
Maybe Lance needs to learn a lesson from this episode - don't start what you can't finish.
Congrats by the way on the win ... wonder what the result had been if Bentham had made the correct call and red carded Hohaia for his (admittedly poor) attempt at a jaw breaker? It would then have been 12 v 12 (hence the charge against Hohaia) if Hohai's head assault had been punished - as you say though don't let the facts get in the way of a correct argument.
If you are having problems reading other people comments, maybe you could get dad to help you with the longer words?

Not to mention the two professional fouls (holding down) which should have resulted in yellow cards.

| at people claiming Hohaia should of been sent off for his involvement. I suppose they also think Bateman should of sent off for his handbags, sorry "jawbreaker" on Soliola near the end? No?
No qualms with a B grade, for Hohaia, his retaliation escalated the initial push. It didn't justify the response it got however.
Also, it was Soliola in the first tackle of the match, not Masoe and it was as much of a shoulder charge as Bowens (aka not) - trust me, I've watched it a lot

Let's be fair then, what about the holding down of Roby, another professional foul, but you got away with a penalty and a sore head from Roby's boot. And I don't like Bentham either!

Which teacher was it that taught you to overuse punctuation? Do you think he is proud at this point?
Go uncover a mirror for a while. Go on, you deserve it.

I had no issue with going for goal. Take your points when behind and get level. Different game then. The issue was missing and it not going dead.
'"
Matty Smith is a very poor kicker though. I wouldn't have gone for two anyway but at least with Pat Richards it would have been a guaranteed two points.
As soon as they decided to go for it I said he'll miss this and sure enough he did. Mind you the real error was not getting it dead rather than actually missing it.

I've also noticed how your perception of a game can change from watching it live avd then watching it back on sky.

Yeah definitely. As far as I was concerned at the match we were reffed out of the match (Obviously the Flower incident notwithstanding) and I watched it back and the only decision I can think of as being off was the Pettybourne knock on. The crowd in particular really makes a difference to your perception. It also felt like Wigan got nothing but their penalty count was higher.

Yep that's my point.
I'm a big boxing fan and like to score the fights on sky. If you have the sound on and listen to the sky team and the crowd, I find I tend to go with what they saying but if turn sound off you score it different. It's pretty much like being at the game and hearing the fans

| Watching the game back I thought Bentham had a great game. He controlled the ruck well and gave pens when he needed to. His control of the game was spot on.
I'm not sure how he could have sent Hohaia off in the moment after flower had done that tho. Im not sure any ref would have taken action. Flower's actions took everything away from what happened: Flower shoving Hohaia, the hohaia reaction and the reaction to the forearm. If it ended there both players would have been binned.
