The season before Martin signed for us he played against us at the HJ for Saints. He and Skully ripped us apart, Saints won something like 40 - 10 & Martin had a hand in 30 of the points. He was devastating, it was the best display by a Centre I had seen in my 30 years of watching RL.

When Gleeson was banned in 2004 for betting against Saints, he got himself into great shape for the end of season internationals and was GB's best player in that Tri Series where we were quite good. Gleeson wasn't just good footwork and an offload, he was strong, fit and had great stamina. The only thing he really lacked from the full package was a yard of pace else he would have been in the highest class.

Fitness was never a problem certainly when he played for us.
