| Brett was asked if he had signed a new contract yet on Tues night at the Riversiders meeting, he said he expected it to be sorted within the next two weeks. He is loving it at Wigan and says the rest of the lads are terrific. I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt become involved in the coaching side at Wigan later on.

Any news on his preferred volume of Weetabix?

IFL has done well so far and the team is going well under Waneys tutilage.

| From a Saints perspective I can't see there being any truth in this. In order to sign Finch we would have to release one of Puletua, Soliola (only just singed new deal), Laffranchi, Perry or Hohaia earlier.
Laffranchi is in his first year and doing well, it wont be him, and I cant see a reason for Puletua to leave now.
The only possibilty would be if Hohaia was unhappy or homesick and wanted to go back.
But it is very very doubtful IMO.

Not arguing with that. I just wouldn't like to be in a position where Lenegan won't match another teams offer for Finch and Wane spots a chance to bring another Wiganer back and thinks Kevin Brown would be a suitable replacement. I'm hoping Finch will sign a new contract very soon. We can't really afford to lose him.

Lenagan won't break the bank but I'm sure he knows how important it is to keep him and I'm totally confident he'll get this deal done.
As for Wane I don't buy in to him wanting a team chocked full of Wiganers. I'm sure he'd love to have a 17 made up fully of Wigan born players 'if' they were good enough but he's not daft enough to think that's realistic at the moment. If he did Gelling wouldn't be in the side King or Russell would and Lauaki wouldn't be in the side Spencer or Crosby would be.
He signed four players in the off season made up of 2 kiwis and 2 welshmen.

I'll back Lenegan on this. Unless he can get the syrup bix on a 3 for 2 'family favourite' deal he shouldn't be held to ransom by Finch's agent.

Thankfully the Stains offer isn't up to much.
It's what Kyle Eastmond didn't finsh the other year.

| Quote: Wigan Peer "Lets bear in mind we are talking about peoples careers, within a profesional environment.
1. Finch would be an idiot if he was not trying to get the best deal for himelf
2. The Wigan management would be negligent if they were not looking at replacements for all positions. People can leave or get injured at any time.'"
You missed 3. Which is it is the clubs job to secure the best players possible.
Given Tommy is leaving, who is realistically available and how much salary cap will be freed up next season if the club is does not re-sign Finch it will be a failure. It should take about 5 minutes to realise considering your point 2 he is the man for the job.
I can't see anyone of note who is as good who is definitely available. Letting him leave in favour of young players is a none starter given Tommy is going. If Wane thinks he can get away with this he would be guilty of believing his own propaganda.
He and his agent probably know they are in a strong position. Sometimes clubs are calling the shots but at the end of the day I can't see any reason why the club is not doing its best to secure his signature.
If we don't people will no doubt trot out the platitudes about no being held to ransom etc but I can't see why we are not in a position to outbid any SL side without breaking the bank. None of the rest of them are overflowing with cash.
All things considered it should be a formality he stays with us unless he wants to return to the NRL.

| Quote: Dave K. "Interesting that he hasn't signed a deal yet.
Hull have a lot of cap to play with next and are desperate for a halfback of his quality, I would have thought that if we have offered him a contract it will be a very good one for three years, depends if Wigan can match this (or get close) and how much he wants to stay.
It's a bit depressing to say it but if Wigan offer Finch a similar deal to the one Hull are offering, then there is only winner.'"
Well as of 2 weeks ago he hadnt been offered one

| Quote: Carneys Cover "the SUN says this morning that both St Helens and Hull are after signing Finch. Apparently an insider at Wigan has said Wane has other people ear marked for the position.
I hope this is the SUN trying to fill space because if Wanes does not resign Finch it would be a disaster.
I posted this few week back on our board stating the exact same thing the sun reported today.
Finch agent has offered finch to every man and his dog, to four different countries and also to both codes and he will go where the money is.
Rogues will confirm I posted this the other week and it's totally true.
