Complete . He did what he always did and played to the rules which did NOT say deferring wages was against the rules. We got done because RFL decided it was "against the spirit of the cap" which was a total cop out.
It's against the rules now - they had to write it into the rules after that little fiasco but it makes me mad when oppositions fans say we cheated never mind our own.
Several teams operate "against the spirit of the cap" in my opinion and always have done. What they do isn't against the rules either but they don't have some tin pot Cas chairman kicking up a fuss against what they are doing.
Dave
PS You are right it is not for this thread but if post as you did....

| Quote: JTB "They'll sell shedloads anyway. There's all this fuss every year and everyone still buys the shirts.'" Absolutely right. There were loads of people moaning about last years kit but they still sold shed loads of those. Wigan won't be bothered which kit sells best as long as they reach their projected sales targets.
People who only usually buy the home may buy the away shirt instead but that isn't going to harm our bank balance. I don't particularly like the home shirt but I'm pretty much over it now.
I've got more important things to worry about like who is going to be my scapegoat for next season. I hope to have him in place before the first friendly game.

I have to disagree with this comment and Pemps later one, Get it right and they should sell more.
The object must be to maximise the number of shirts sold and not to be content with achieving a certian target. I agree with an earlier poster there have been more than a dozen mock ups on here far better than the home shirt. The lack of attention by the club in getting the shirt right and certainly putting some people off buying doesn't seem to me to be a marketing success. It would be intersting to see what the process for approving the design is and who is involved. Anyone at the club prepared to tell us how it's done?

Was that not when they were struggling to sell them though a few weeks into the season?
I think it was and had alot to do with them being out so late. If they'd have got them out on time like this year the pre christmas sales would probably have meant Lenagan would never have had to put that offer on.

Think you may be right there mate
I do think it would be a good idea to put some offers on before Christmas though, 2 for £50/60/70 would be a big hit.

| Well i don't mind either shirt and as long as our players turn up and play in them (especially early season) then i'll be proud to wear mine , like i did with the warriors shirt .
could you imagine what it would be like on here if they brought that back with mecca bingo on the front for good measure .

A 2 for £70 offer would be a pretty decent one. I know plenty of people buy both kits and that would save them £15 aswell as it not losing the club a great deal of money.

A million times better than the new shirt
Maybe all the shirt ideas should be sent to the club for next year...can't get it wrong then!

| That shirt that someone has knocked up looks very good, like people said it wouldnt do any harm sending them a few ideas.
Didnt a football club a few years ago give the fans to vote from a choice of 3.

| I may be in the minority but I think the Home shirt is fine - its just a variation on the same old theme - we've had much worse in recent years (2008 season the immediate example) and at the end of the day the vast majority of people who bought that, will buy this one plus a few more.
Good job the club aren't planning on shifting many of the shorts though - truly awful, the only positive thing I can say are they are a link to the designs of the glory days of late 80's / early 90's.

| I personally dont see what all the fuss is about tbh?, at the end of the day there are only so many shirts with the traditional cherry and white hoops you can design, before we enter the relms of a stupid pirate/warrior head plastered on the front. i think both kits are smart and will deffo be buying both as im sure the majority will who arnt to keen at the min. and when all said and done the most important thing is that we perform well and bring some silverware home.
