Can't decide which result I'd prefer. Probably a Saints win (just).

| Surprised by the vitriol on here as, like most Wire fans, I have no issue with Wigan winning other than being surprised the margin wasn’t bigger. I half expected it looking at our bench and was happy with the resilience shown.
I will comment on the ref to say I thought Brads try came from an offside position and was surprised the VR didnt give that a closer look. Minikin decision still baffles me.
Haven’t seen a replay of the tackle that gave Vaughan a ban but on Twitter have seen the “tackle” of KPP on Clark and am amazed that wasn’t called in.
PS not many of us getting carried away with our lofty position just pleasantly surprised given last season.

Saw that this morning and was surprised he's not been called for it, hope someone at the club is having a word with him because he is really lazy in the ruck, lots of grabbing and holding onto feet and legs rather than bending his back and getting into the tackle.

Just seen the Vaughan tackle, its quite similar to the one Smithies copped a ban for last week in that its dropping from a low position at the attackers hip, but Vaughan drops his weight and swings round the attackers standing leg.
There's going to be a lot of confused fans but those are rules and they're there for a reason.

It's a different story over on Twitter, where quite a few Wire fans - some of whom even admit that they're that - are complaining nonstop about last weekend's result.
Decisions go against every team in every match. Some are fair, some are unfair, some occupy a grey space in between. But there's a lot more than the odd moment of eccentricity from the ref that costs teams games.
Sorry to be blunt, but Wire lost, and their legion of support that has suddenly materialised in the RL media (because they only ever want to back 'winners') need to get over it.

If Vaughan doesn't win his appeal or they don't bother then their lack of forwards evens it up a bit more from what I first thought.
We'll know at 12pm definitely when the squads are named but it seems like Batchelor is back which is a huge bonus however Sironen and Paasi are still missing plus Wingfield failed his HIA last week so that still leaves us with Knowles, Walmsley, Matautia plus the above 3 missing.
Paasi I believe may need an operation so not sure how long he is out for but he's been playing with an injury all season so it needs sorting whatever it is.
Lees thankfully escaped a ban. However on that subject its not hard to see why Saints fans are frustrated with the process. Thaler didn't penalise him on Friday and only binned him after consulting with the touch judge. Thaler said he connected with the HKR players chest. Lo and behold the RFL then say there is no case to answer for it.
This is the second time this season that Lees has been binned, the opposition have scored a couple of tries whilst we have been down to 12 men and then the RFL say there is no case when it comes to the MRP.

| Really looking forward to seeing three Saints players sin-binned on Thursday and reading the resulting meltdown over on RedVee

I’ve just seen the Vaughan one and I’m not sure why they’ve appealed it (well I know why but they shouldn’t win it) It looks pretty standard in terms of what they’re banning people for. It’s somewhere in between Smithies and Knowles tackles IMO and with other men in the tackle and his feet leaving the floor, it looks pretty clear cut when judged alongside those 2 Good Friday incidents.
It should be a good game. One thing I think Wellens needs to do is to put a bit more faith in young Delaney. I saw the stats from Friday and I presume he got extremely limited minutes. The kid is a good player and can help take pressure off Lees, LMS and Wingfield.

You can be sin binned in a game and then there be no case to answer by the MRP. Similarly, you can not be penalised in the game and then get a charge/ban afterwards. The two aren't necessarily connected, which I'm sure you know really.
If Thaler has taken advice from his TJ and decided to use that to sin bin him then he clearly feels the TJ was in a better position to make the call as he doesn't have to listen to him if he doesn't want so the issue is with the TJ and not the MRP or the RFL. Maybe the TJ Union has it in for Saints?

Can't speak for anyone else, but for me it's simply based on Fantastic Mr Cat telling us how many players you were missing which clearly wasn't true.
Having seen the sides I expected our bench to get us over the line but didn't see the early dominance coming. Wish we'd managed to take our chances and really put a score on but on another day we may do so.
Agree on the Minikin try. I'd have given it personally. I think O'Neill is onside JUST.

| Vaughan now not appealing. The right call by Wire that. I think there was a chance it could’ve got increased looking at the footage. It’s worse than Smithies IMO, who got 1 game, simply because other players are holding KPP.
50/50 that game on Thursday now

| Any view on that KPP “tackle”. On repeat viewing looks nothing more than a blatant attempt to injure an opponent.

What about the Wire player putting Mago's ankle up around his ear, looks nothing more than a blatant attempt to injure an opponent
PS K P-P should've got a ban for whatever that grab was, no need at all

Totally disagree, as I said on the last page KPP is lazy in the ruck, always grabbing and holding onto feet and legs. I think in that tackle he's trying to slow and turn the player to stop him getting up to play the ball, and he's doing it in a way that is dangerous and he should have been called for it.
