Of course, if you feel that this board is populated by one-eyed ignorant fools, who are not benefiting from your wise words, you could always go elsewhere... just a thought.

| totally disagree with OP.
Play-Off Football is great and should stay for good.
Seems like a post created just because we lost. Us and Warrington only have ourselves to blame as we were beaten on the day.
Are you saying that NZ Warriors didnt deserve to be in the NRL Grand Final as they finished 6th?

| we just weren't good enough, but I don't begrudge either team being there really, well done to them
it's a shame that it's Leeds/Saints, because they've been pretty this season, if Leeds win it'll be the greatest turnaround since Brett Hodgson's attempt on Josh in the CC quarter final

| I don't recall this being a hot topic for Wiganers a few years back. But I'm sure we can now all agree Saints should have been champions those years we won the league but not the final.
Now we are all agreed were is our trophy for those missed years?

Contrary to popular belief, we don't make the rules, ask the RFL....

I was just making the point that this is the problem with the playoffs, when you win it after not finishing first, the team that finishes first argues that you are not true champions and everyone else argues well you know the rules at the start of the year.
Plainly the playoffs does not decided the best team of the year, but it does decided the champions.

I don't think you will find many on here who will disagree.... Many feel that the LLS is a massive achievment that should be applauded... The play-off's have lost some appeal because with no relegation, Sky (or is that the RFL?) need to ensure there are fewer "dead-rubbers" during the regular season. A return of relegation with some form of 5 team play-off would suit me...

Same place as ours in 2000 when Wigan finished top and Saints won the GF!

They would be better off doing a smaller playoff at the top with more quality games and a relegation playoffs or something along them lines. If they want pure excitement that would provide it. It would be much better with more closer games rather than teams at bottom end of the playoffs getting whitewashed. A top 5 playoffs is better than 8 as the top team would deservedly get a much better chance out of it. If we are going to use the playoffs to decide champions (which is not really right but we are doing it for the money) then top should get a better deal imo.

| More smokescreening.
Had you beaten your near neighbours who finished below you (and given your rule of thumb about consistency, therefore not as good) then this topic wouldn't even be a discussion point.
As it stands a team from 3rd has beaten a team ABOVE THEM, TWICE, away then at home and without question earnt the right in a system that is pretty superior to most other sports. They will face a team who have beaten 8th at home, 4th away and 1st from home. That, is a magnificent achievement and to dismiss that as some kind of fluke illustrates a genuine lack of knowledge about that accomplishment, the game and the psychology of sport.
If you can't hack it when it matters, then whinging about the system around you being a core part of that failure to step up, is pish poor at best.

Numerous, but immaterial given the amount of excessive, ungracious, sour bleating on here. It's cringe worthy.
The title of this topic outlines and substantiates that very point. If fans of clubs cannot/will not recognise that sport is about the mental resolve, toughness, courage and grit required to make a Grand Final, then they are completely missing the point - winning when it matters. All this guff about modifying the format won't mitigate losing to 3rd place twice on the bounce. It won't mitigate the exceptional effort of a team from 5th to beat 8th, 4th and 1st to get there. Real teams step up when it matters. Real teams do what they need to do to get there.
Moaning about the play off's, illustrates a lack of class.
