Quote: Ruddy Duck "
The Rugby Stadium part of the complex is indeed owned by Leeds Rhinos and the Cricket Ground part is indeed owned by Yorkshire County Cricket Club, but the land on which the whole of the complex is built is also owned by the Cricket Club.'"
Nope, you're totally wrong. Sorry.
Leeds owned the whole complex until they sold the cricket ground, including the land upon which it is built, to Yorkshire. That land ran up to a straight line running down the back of the old RL North Stand.

Quote: Rogues Gallery "Taken from the Headingley North/South Stand last published accounts.

Subsequent to the year end, the business faces unprecedented uncertainty as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is entirely dependent on its sole customer, Leeds Cricket, Football & Athletic Company Limited ("Leeds Rhinos”), being able to pay the annual operating licence fee for use of the North-South Stand, in order for the company to meet its own lease obligations to Leeds City Council.

The directors acknowledge that the current uncertainty in respect of the COVID-19 pandemic means there is uncertainty around the level and timing of certain future income streams for Leeds Rhinos. Significant delays in crowds returning to games and the associated hospitality and reduction in revenues beyond those expected in the forecasts for Leeds Cricket, Football & Athletic Company Limited could lead to a cash short-fall within the next twelve months indicating that a material uncertainty exists which may cast significant doubt on Leeds Cricket, Football & Athletic Company Limited's ability to continue as a going concern. As a result of the company's reliance on Leeds Cricket, Football & Athletic Company Limited for its cash flows, a material uncertainty exists that may cast significant doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern and therefore its ability to realise its assets and discharge its liabilities in the ordinary course of business. These financial statements do not include the adjustments that would be required should the going concern basis of preparation no longer be appropriate.'"
I think every club will get a material uncertainty over going concern modification in their accounts this year. The business I work for which has millions in the bank is having an argument with our auditors as to why it's not required and we're still trading.

Quote: NickyKiss "Ian Lenagan goes down as a legend of this club for me. We were in a mess when he took over and since then the club has been transformed. Every decision may not have been popular but he’s got most right and has been fantastic for us. If he is going to sell up then he will be missed IMO. This new guy has plenty of money but any change of ownership always brings worry. I just hope we stick to the model of developing our own and giving the youth its chance.'"

The mess as you call it was nothing compared to the mess the club was in at the end of the seventies under the then board of twelve Directors when the gang of four gained control of the club.

But for them, the club would have faced being declared bankrupt.

If Ian Lenagan is a legend, the gang of four were gods in the eyes of many supporters at the time.

I suggest that some of you need to look at the comment by a Manchester City supporter called 'O Years' on Wigan World about what he thinks about Wigan Warriors and some of its supporters.

If he's being negative, it would hardly be a surprise.

Back in the late 80s - long before Whelan bought Latics - we committed a big sin in the eyes of many footy fans by becoming a major sports story that didn't concern a round ball.

That's usually all there is to it.

The delicious irony in that is that the “gang of four” damn nearly ended Wigan RL in its entirety.

Conveniently forgot that bit eh?

It's easy to remember the great days at Central Park. I was sat on the ringside when the record crowd of 47,747 was achieved.

However it wasn't all sweetness and light was it? what about some the sub 10K attendances even in the "gang of four" glory years?

As I've mentioned to you before the average attendances at JJB/DW are higher than the same period at CP.

btw Where were you the night we got relegated?

Who you aiming that at? There are a growing number of supporters on here that are from a post CP era. Does that make them any less fans than you? I certainly don't feel that way.

By the way.... link?
