Wigan need to do what they've been conditioned to do by Saints over the last 5 years and that is to remain calm, patient and be as error free as possible in the face of what I'd expect will be a whirlwind start by them. We used to panic, make errors and then get picked off and bit by bit over the years, we've learned to stay composed, in the knowledge that they cannot keep that pace up for 80 minutes. We know their attack is unlikely to get us from inside their own half, so the big battle is to make sure we're not pinned on our line for 80 minutes. We've been very good at soaking up pressure, safe in the knowledge that we can hurt them from any area of the pitch but if you do too much defending because of errors and penalties, that becomes more and more difficult.

The big worry for me so far this season is that discipline. It's has been really poor and every ref is battering us on the penalty count, so it cannot just be the officials fault, we must be doing something wrong. If we can sort that, we've got a really good chance.

Weather looking mixed on Friday with a downpour forecasted around 3pm. This is unfortunate for us as I had hope we could have exploited from deep with our speed.

Fingers crossed as forecasts have been wrong in the past.

Both squads looking strong. Hopefully Makinson, Dodd and Knowles all play for us. In that case we'd be missing Bell and Paasi from the full squad. Think I'm right in saying Havard, Cooper and Walters for you men so both squads in good health. All set for a cracker.

If it raining going to be won in the forwards. I do back our forwards for meter making might hinder attack ball like a bar of soap and all that hopefully we can pin them down in there half and look for errors, obviously be few and far between. Both sides look strong I do feel we have the slight edge with the bench options

The weather looks difficult to predict for Friday with sunshine and showers forecast. Generally speaking I think Wigan struggle in wet weather as it nullifies our biggest threats. Plus Saints still have the edge when it comes to metre-making forwards - almost all of theirs do that job very well whilst we have players who struggle to win collisions in Byrne, Isa and Hill. Even Farrell struggles in this area but his other strengths more than make up for it. To really maximise our potential this year we ideally need to transition Nsemba to the starting line up and get a couple of the injured forwards back.

If we can get the win it would put us in a fantastic position but I think a mix of better form, motivation and a slightly stronger forward pack might see Saints take this one.

I've noticed we've shipped around 5 tries this season from attacking kicks and majority of them have come from dropped balls from Miski. Him and Keighran are probably going to get peppered from the first set so thats an area we need to be much better at if we are going to win. Our discipline has been an issue since WCC but i'm sure Peet will be banging that drum all week. Saints will come out flying, but i think we've enough composure and confidence to soak that up in the first 15 minutes to then take one of our chances.

Should be a great occasion, i think we could make a statement.

Looking forward to this. The two best sides going head to head. I agree that it probably means a little bit more to us at the moment than Wigan. They are on their perch at the moment and we need to knock them off.

Gutted that Bell isn't playing as he has been our best player so far this season but Wigan missing a few forwards too. Wet weather will definitely suit us as we have been defensively superb all season and have largely kept our discipline too. Our attack has been awful but a team will have to score 3 tries to beat us at the moment and no-one bar Salford against 12 men has managed it yet. A dry track would be the worst conditions againts us with the pace that Wigan have.

Lets hope both teams finish with 13 men and a ref's call doesn't decide the game.

I go away for 4 nights early on Sat morning so I'll either be toasting a win with a few beers or avoiding my largely Wigan supporting bunch of mates for a few days so a win win either way. Only negative is that Benalmadena is forecast as poor weather as we have here so I'll just be in warmer rain.

Enjoy mate, the break that is hopefully not the win. I am hoping to see a classic and may the best team win.

I don't think it will be a easy win but a win never the less

Anyway good luck to both teams playing in the biggest and best derby in any sport (my view of course).
Just hope it isn't decided on a dodgy call.

May the best team on the day win.
Come On Wigan

Saints bench looks stronger than expected, Bachelor and Matautia e ones to watch out for. Good side out for us Dupree and Mago off the bench hopefully keep punching holes

Target Hurrell side can’t keep the pace

I’m guessing given the time of the post you’re watching on TV. The reason was clearly explained by the ref and commentary team. Odd question to ask given the circumstance.
