| I actually thought Warrington weren't very good themselves on Saturday. They were pretty poor with the ball, and had poor discipline themselves albeit their defence was good. But on the showings of this week, it's really hard to look past anything else than a KR v Wigan final. You lot seem a cut above at the moment

And as an example of how inferior Wellens is to his predecessor, he wouldn't have dared do that under Woolf.

I don’t think you can pin that on Wellens, schoolboys and schoolgirls don’t need reminding to do that.

Agree, I thought the game was a real step down in intensity after watching Friday night. And you'd have to say that Wire have less of an excuse there than Saints in terms of disruption to their squad, although I suppose too they were always likely to be finishing 3rd in any event so maybe that was in the back of their minds.
After Friday I'm now as confident as you can be in knockout games that Wigan will make the final. I wasn't sure about the gas we had left in the tank, but Friday has given me a lot more confidence that we can raise our game for the last three or four games.
Hull KR, I'm not so certain how they'll react in a semi against Wire or maybe a slightly more fully-fit Saints. On the one hand they looked like a much more hardened team ready to compete in these sorts of games compared to the CC semi and SL semi last year. That said, they still got beat and despite what some were saying about the first half and yellow cards, thoroughly deserved to get beat.
So how do they respond to that? Do they take confidence that they're on the right track or still think feel like they're short when the chips are down? Will they think that being very structured and process driven might not be enough when they come up against a team that can do the same, but with a Bevan French, George Williams or Jack Welsby?
They absolutely deserve to be in the final on the evidence of what we've seen so far, but would I back them in a tough looking semi? Hard to say.

Dark days ahead for Saints
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-leagu ... 8d91d1z22o
Covid loans and having your own stadium isn't as lucrative as it seems.
In all seriousness, What was the IMG remit again? The game needs some Paul Wellens 'Honest Discussions' about where it is headed and with the new tackling protocols next season, how the hell can it be sold as entertainment.

Probably wishful thinking on my part but hopefully there's a local highly successful billionaire businessman out there who can cover any losses until we grow the business into profitability

Will any of the clubs ever be profitable again? It’s hard to see with the way it’s going

I know McManus has said there are going to have to be cutbacks at Saints, where do you see these falling?

Whereas Saints are owned by a consortium of boy scouts
Honestly, in a week where Wigan, Leeds and Saints have all reported losses, with ours being the smallest of these losses may I add, an attempt at point scoring from Wigan fans towards Saints is truly truly bizarre.
For a group of fans who boast about being "never ignored," you talk about Saints an awful lot.

I think the key point to be taken here are in the notes and projections, Wigan's are all positive and expecting an improvement whereas Saints ones seem to be negative and expecting things to get worse.
Let's be honest though, neither club is really on it's and we will both be top level clubs for a long time yet.

| We've been through this before. Saints and Leeds suffered more than anyone through Covid for the simple fact that they were unable to use their stadiums for non matchday activities
We now have the deal with Liverpool which will help each year in terms of income all year round. We've already seen the state of the art pitch that they paid for. I'm pretty sure that at some point we will go back to holding concerts again to generate more income
McManus has categorically said that losses won't affect player investment and we will continue to spend full cap.
Wigan are in a very fortunate position with Danson but hardly self-sufficient. Similar to City in that regard, if he for any reason pulled out they would be as royally f****d as Saints and Leeds

| I take no delight in seeing large losses for any RL club, I'm reading that the COVID loans make up a significant portion of these losses which are hopefully only temporary.
We've always suffered with a lower turnover compared to others due to loss of matchday revenue due to funds going to external organisations rather than our club.
It is comforting to read that turnover is expected to increase from £6.5m to £7.5m (although how much of that is cup winning success revenue and how much is fanzone & retail is unclear yet,).
