| Much of the moaning and arm throwing from wire regarding holding down was following the ref calling surrender. I think it's the most calls i've heard in a game. Wigan rightly took their time to set the defence. I can imagine in the crowd it's frustrating as you don't hear the call from the ref.
I really don't understand the criticism of Brads put down for his try. First look in real time it's odds on a bounced ball, but on the other angle there is absolutely no separation even at slow motion - and that's the whole purpose of the VR.

Brads grounding was just fine, no seperation and you can see his hand/fingers bend back as the ball hits the ground. Maybe a close call for offside, not sure the VR looked that closely at that part, I'll check again in super slo-mo, IIRC it went up as no try from the ref?
Miniken was very unlucky but it went up as no-try and there did look to be a bobble of the ball. I'd prefer this one was given TBH.
Some discussion of Wardle's try being forward - not for me - the key is Bevan's hand position - its backwards out of his hand and drifts to a line ball down to the good old momento rule (Thank you Stevo)
The Russel knock on - I understand it bounced off his head and that is not a knock on?

| They've got through a whole gamut of excuses since they lost. Probably something to do with them having started believing their own publicity of invincibility. Nothing like being brought down to Earth when Sky Sports kept telling you that would never happen. The best team won. End of. The next question is what excuses will they come up with when the best team wins on Thursday?

| Looking ahead to that game on Thursday, I can’t remember a game that’s felt as win, win for Wigan in a long time. Wire lose and we have a shot at going top on Sunday. Saints lose and it keeps their poor form going.
Looking forward to it.

| Rewatched the first half of Friday and it was as dominant as I thought at the game. We bombed 3 tries in that first 40 alone. The intensity in defence from Wigan was unreal.

That's 400 props they're missing.
Not sure if they have enough wingers to cover the bench.

Can't decide which result I'd prefer. Probably a Saints win (just).

| Surprised by the vitriol on here as, like most Wire fans, I have no issue with Wigan winning other than being surprised the margin wasn’t bigger. I half expected it looking at our bench and was happy with the resilience shown.
I will comment on the ref to say I thought Brads try came from an offside position and was surprised the VR didnt give that a closer look. Minikin decision still baffles me.
Haven’t seen a replay of the tackle that gave Vaughan a ban but on Twitter have seen the “tackle” of KPP on Clark and am amazed that wasn’t called in.
PS not many of us getting carried away with our lofty position just pleasantly surprised given last season.

Saw that this morning and was surprised he's not been called for it, hope someone at the club is having a word with him because he is really lazy in the ruck, lots of grabbing and holding onto feet and legs rather than bending his back and getting into the tackle.

Just seen the Vaughan tackle, its quite similar to the one Smithies copped a ban for last week in that its dropping from a low position at the attackers hip, but Vaughan drops his weight and swings round the attackers standing leg.
There's going to be a lot of confused fans but those are rules and they're there for a reason.

It's a different story over on Twitter, where quite a few Wire fans - some of whom even admit that they're that - are complaining nonstop about last weekend's result.
Decisions go against every team in every match. Some are fair, some are unfair, some occupy a grey space in between. But there's a lot more than the odd moment of eccentricity from the ref that costs teams games.
Sorry to be blunt, but Wire lost, and their legion of support that has suddenly materialised in the RL media (because they only ever want to back 'winners') need to get over it.
