Success can be measured in many ways and is subjective from a fan's perspective. If I was a Wigan fan I would take pride in the clubs overall achievements and arguably being the he most famous rugby club in the world. Saints fans will measure success in terms of the superleague as it trumps Wigan and certainly trumps us although jammy grand final win aside, Saints haven't won anything since 2007 apart from the St Helens Star team of the week. In recent years since 2007 we've had some success with 3 cc wins and 2 gf finals so we're not so much of a pathetic club portrayed by the deluded stains fans who are living in the early naughties.

Over many many years being Wire and rugby league fan, I've noticed that stains fans by far contain a conspicuous element of arrogance and like more than anyone to take the mickey, which is fine. But when the shoe is on the other they can't take it, and even worse don't understand why many Wire fans take great pleasure in seeing a boring misfiring stains side containing players with less flair than those found on a table football pole.

Remember the number of complaints when Sky unwrapped the shield then re wrapped it and took it down the tunnel.

More so because it was us, their insignificant neighbours embarrassing them on live TV.

Everyone thought it hilarious...Saints fans complained in numbers, absolute whoppers.

If people are looking for the reason why wire fans hate saints more than wigan, then the answer is simple. It's their fans. I grew up in the 80s and never wanted wigan to win a game. Partly through jealousy and partly beacuse its the english nature to root for the underdog. Having grown up and known several friends who support both of the clubs, as a general rule wigan fans are much nicer people. Saints fans are very bitter people, which is surprising seeing as they have been succesful in the summer era. Also, i take my son to away games with his team all around the north west and it is a much more pleasant experience going to an away fixture in wigan than anywhere in st.helens. In fact, the only parent who causes any problems on our side is a saints fan who happens to live in warrington!
