No, that's what I thought too. I said to my daughter at half time I bet they clear them up for the second half and I was right!

| Hmm, just read my post back from last night, I think oh dear just about sums it up! It was posted amidst my outrage at a woeful Leeds performance and what was undoubtedly a classy and talented Wigan side, I dread to think about the outcome had your pack been at full strength. And yes, credit must go to the master class given to Leeds by Sam Tomkins, as much as I really don't like him, he is without doubt the best player in SL currently!
And as many of you said regarding bigger things to worry about, that's true, big changes are required at Headingley.

Your candour is appreciated, but I never know why opposition fans always have to qualify their praise of Sam Tomkins with comments like "I don't like him personally" or "pity he's such a nowty bugger" or "his attitude lets him down" when none of them know him personally.
Off the field, Sam is one of the nicest lads you could meet. On it, he comes in for a lot stick from the opposition because of his size and because of the threat he poses - it's no wonder he responds the way he does. Last night was a case in point. The tackle when JJB was bent over backwards was clearly an accident and Sam did nothing wrong at all - he tackled the guy round the legs. Yet he was the one who all those ridiculous Leeds forwards ran in to have a fight with.
Reminds me of a quote from Andy Gregory, which went something to the effect of: "All my rugby career, I met blokes who wanted to pick on me because I was short. I had to learn to punch above my weight."
I don't blame Sam for treating certain other players with such disdain.

| I appreciate your point regarding people qualifying praise of him, for me personally I just thought , particularly last season albeit on a limited number of times watching him he just seemed like a bit of a niggly player and of course, the 'V' at wembley wasn't going to endear him too well with most Leeds fans. But saying that, there's a fair share of niggly players in the Leeds team, Brent Webb being a prime example.
Though this season he seems to have matured further and credit to him.
Also, your right about him off field I'm sure, I've never met the guy, my opinion just comes from last year like I say after a couple of incidents and that just sticks. As well, I don't think many fans particularly 'like' other teams players.
I think jealousy plays a part as well amongst RL fans and players alike (myself included, I'd have him in the Leeds team any day!) which does make him a bit of a target, a bit of a compliment to him I suppose in that people don't like him because of what he can do to a team!

I was going to mention that, there's always one idiot that ruins it, hopefully he got booted out.

Didn't see that - maybe he asked what was in it, and someone told him it was Baileys...?

iirc was when leeds were lining up for the kick off after their 2nd try.
perhaps as well it wasnt picked up by officials or we could be facing a fine.
to his credit, Bailey just kicked it off the pitch without fuss, and didnt react to the abuse that followed.

I'm suprised he didn't pick out the smallest person (probably a kid) that was dishing out the abuse and throw an elbow or a knee at them on the sly!
In all seriousness throwing stuff is just mindless. The most enjoyment I got from the evening was clapping the Leeds players back to their own line after Hall scored in the second half....a beautiful moment
