How about casting your memory back the the mid 90's when he saved us from extinction after Robinson had run us into the ground. I don't like Whelan or his business practices, but at the end of the day, he has put more money into the club than he has taken out of it, and without him we could be playing at the Reebok.

Instead of playing in a shared stadium, where we're second class citizens?

Just like we would be at the Reebok, only you would have to travel to Bolton for home games.

im not getting back into the pro/anti whelan bebate, its been done to death.
i admire your loyalty (misguided imo ) but anything whelans ever done was for the benefit of whelan and NOT wigan rugby fans. he saw a business opportunity and grabbed it.

even if he does only act in his own interest, we have undoubtedly benefitted from his actions, whether he meant it or not.

Without getting into this one again! Wasn't the JJB only given planning permission on the proviso it was a shared stadium and if so, who needed who most?

| When Mr Whelan announced in the local press the other week that he was going to open a lads and girls club, I was reading it in the local shop and of course having a chunner along the lines of, omg please don't tell me the man is going to do something I may have to like him for.
Our shopkeeper, who I hadn't realised knew anything about Rugby, but does have a degree in business began to tell me that he had been studying him for years, all through his education and assured me that he won't be doing this for philanthropic reasons it will be solely for some profit.
It didn't reassure me really, if this lads and girls club does come out of the planning stage into reality; even though he annihalated Orrell and tried to do the same with us, he will actually go up in my estimations.
And I am dreading that day, its the chuckle of the month at work, two extremes are meeting. My passion for work with young people and Mr Whelan.
