| i for one am chuffed with the appointment, apparently he's dead keen on fitness and conditioning as well as having some fresh and exciting ideas tactically. Hopefully will start the sason with a fitter Feka and a bigger more aggressive Fielden. I just hope hes given the time. Hes already being touted as wigans saviour on here, a more consistent wigan team is what we all want and need, the silverware will follow in time. A three year contract is signed, lets give him the time to mould HIS team and the players gel to HIS ways.

| Quote Cruncher="Cruncher"And if he 'falls by it', who's going to put him out of the door - you?
I love this "or else" attitude you've adopted in recent times. You either think you've got some kind of hold over the guy, or you think you represent some vast army of fans who you can mobilise to vote with their feet. At this moment in time, I'd say that neither of those could be further from the truth.
But here's a more serious thought for you.
It's extremely churlish not to give credit when credit is due. By all means be unimpressed by other things IL has done or not done, but you're firmly on your own in disliking this latest move. Even the other website, notoriously skeptical compared to this one, is offering fulsome praise for it.
It's even more churlish than that when you're refusing to give approval purely because you have an image of being an IL-doubter to maintain and/or can't face admitting that on this occasion you might have got it wrong in a big way.'"
I don't want this to turn into an argument, but what on earth are you on about?
Hold over him? Vote with feet? Where on earth did you conjur that up from?
I am expressing my opinion on a forum.
Got it wrong? I have only TODAY given my opinion. Why on earth would I "admit" that I "got it wrong" all of a couple of hours after first posting?
While we are on the subject, what is it exactly that I "got wrong".
It is impossible to get an opinion wrong.
If you think that appointing a 35 year old with no first grade coaching experience as coach of the biggest RL club side in the world , is not a gamble, then you and I have very different views of what a gamble is.

| Quote XBrettKennyX="XBrettKennyX"It's one thing being involved it's a completely different scenario when the buck stops with you. RL is no different to business in general in this respect.
It's a gamble. Of course I hope it pays off, but as I said, one that I wouldn't have made personally.
Much in the same way that I wouldn't bet £1000 on Wigan to do the double next year, but I would be delighted if it came off.
It's not about being negative, it's about stating opinion.'"
I feel the same, it isn't about being negative at all, just our concerns but in no way does it mean I'm not happy that Maguire is our coach as he does seem to have an awful lot of respect from Oz which can't be a bad thing at all, the only concern is that he has very little experience in 1st team coaching. Let's hope he gets off to a bright start with success at Wigan.

| The appointment of any coach is a gamble. All we as fans can do is get behind him and the team by giving our full support.
By the sounds of things, interviews with the man himself, our chairman and recommendations by some of the best coaches in the World , we could be about to witness something special at Wigan in the next few seasons.
I for one can't wait.

Come on mate, it's not really fair to say no first grade coaching experience about a guy who's been assistant coach to Bellamy who admits Maguire has been very important to what they've achieved, and has even left him in charge when he had other commitments.
Yes it's a step up from Assistant to head coach, a step up that Bellamy feels he's more than ready for.
Be fair that's all i ask.

And apparently we are taking a gamble signing a coach from...... wait the NRL champions Melbourne who have been to 4 grand finals in a row it's an outrage. The fact he is highly rated by other top coaches just makes it more of a gamble!
MaGuire out!
Lets bring an experienced coach in, what about that Noble guy who used to coach us, he has plenty of experience, lets bring him in!

Come on, he's been a big part of the Melbourne set up since 2005. He may not have experience as a head coach, but he has a great deal of experience in 1st team coaching, and his (now previous) boss (a guy mentored and brought on by Wayne Bennett) thinks he's more than ready to step up.
Any appointment is risky, but I don't [ipersonally[/i feel this one is any riskier than Justin Morgan at KR.

Finishing 6th or lower next year would be a huge step down from what we've done this season. We've proven again that we've got the players to mix it with the top teams when we play them, with some consitency the team is capable of a lofiter placing at the end of the season.
