He nearly did, didn't he. I was sure that he was away there, but it must have been a last ditch effort to stop him.

| Quote: Katrina "No I didn't. I was responding to posts already made about him. I didn't come on here thinking 'I'm going to criticise Field'. I didn't think he had a bad game, just pointing out that up against teams that defend well, then the threat he poses is nullified. Is he a perfect player? No. Does he have weaknesses? Yes. Do I enjoy seeing him play? Of course I do. Would I want him playing against us? Would I f**k! However, whether you like to admit it or not, his biggest asset IS his speed. That doesn't mean he's a bad player. Some Wigan fans get their knickers in a right old twist when opposition fans point it out, including you by the looks of it, and I don't understand why.'"
The nature of a big game will always lead to less space and less chances in fairness to Field. It was very much the same in a lot of finals/semi finals for Sam Tomkins in his pomp. He could get 3 or 4 try’s, make numerous breaks etc the week before a Saints game or a semi but in that big game space drys up and then you influence the game by just the odd moment here and there. He made a huge tackle on Hurrell and very nearly got away late in the game. Those were two big moments and ultimately that’s how big games tend to go. He’ll probably only get a couple of those moments in the final as well but as you’ve said before, he’s some weapon to have and he is giving us a sniff in every game we play. We can’t underestimate how nervous opposition teams are of him as well. That in itself opens up space for others.

| Re Field - like most things there's probably a middle ground. No player is perfect and all will do good things and bad things in a game/season. Huge running threat, he definitely has a pass in him and clearly a capable defender - like most he has more improvement and consistency in him. Great tackles on Hurrell/Lussick for example, not so great with the effort on Roby and in defending one or two high kicks.

Well, I went to a game yesterday for the first time in a while. I'm disabled and was extremely anxious about going. Massive shoutouts have to go to the three fellow Wigan fans who shared a cab from the station with me and got me assistance at the ground when I was about to try and tackle it on my own. Rugby League and its fans are the absolute best.
Also, unbelievable from the Elland Road staff. So helpful and friendly. Surprising in Yorkshire.
Hope you enjoyed it and feel able to come to more games in the future.

I thought the challenges from saints in the air were far better than ours and saints team mates defended their full back better than us,

Saints fans used to say similar about Offiah back in the day.
All he can do his run….
RedVee TV really is a treat, the guy (Kevin) was a complete mess.

Look mate, I've no desire to fall out with you. You started your post with "I'll probably get shot down for this but .." (sic) and I shot you down. Surely you weren't taken by surprise? You say I'm getting my knickers in a twist for doing something you, yourself, expected to happen! How does that work?
Let me explain: I spend my hard earned to buy a season ticket and go to the games to support my team and enjoy the games. Unfortunately I have a 'resident moaner' sat just behind me who spends the whole game complaining. We could be winning 50 nil and he'd still find something to moan about. So when I see it on here too it boils my p!ss. This is the Challenge Cup thread. None of what you're criticising was relevant to that game. None of it happened. He didn't throw a bad pass or fail to sweep. The criticism was unnecessary.
As I say, I don't want to fall out so in the spirit of goodwill to all Wigan fans might I make a suggestion? I fully understand you have the right to have your say but could you perhaps do it on an appropriate thread? Maybe start your own if you like. But maybe leave the challenge cup one for those of us who want to celebrate or have comments relating to the actual game?
Cheers. And have a great weekend!

Be surprised if he could even remember 14 seconds of that match, beyond me why you'd pay good money to go to a game just to get absolutely bladdered before kick off

| Leathered was the lad. I imagine he’s woke up this morning with the beer fear, hoping he did nowt daft and then he watches that! Ha ha.
He’s usually the more sensible one as well and even the other bloke seemed like he wondered what was going on.

We walked over the Steve Prescott bridge to Tesco back into St.Helens. We were just talking amongst ourselves, not even about the game. We had absolute cretins trying to goad us all the way back and quite a few of them standing blocking the paths giving it big guns singing 'interbred Wigan scum' in our face, with little kids with them as well. Horrible lot they are.

Wow! That's just embarrassing. It's the Saints equivalent of the infamous 'Wolfs' picture. I hope we bring that out regularly over the coming years
Highlights:
We could have Dwayne Chambers at full back and he'd be as good as Field. Castleford, anyone?
They had it won. They was still 20 minutes to play when they went ahead and we regained the lead after just 10 of them.
Why were they passing on the 3rd tackle! Hilarious!

Such a shame when it’s like that. I made a right mess up yesterday and had already bought tickets for Haydock races, so I watched it there. A Saints fan came sitting with us, we had a laugh and shook hands at the end. He said we deserved the win and was a really good bloke. It’s stuff like that which makes me proud of the sport and then experiences like yours that puts a real dampener on a good day out and there’s just no need for it.

| We are absolutely 1000% better than last season performance wise. Last season we wouldn't have been anywhere near that result (I doubt we would have made it to the semi final either by the way).
Culturally we have made massive strides in such a short space of time, you can see it on the players faces.
By the way it's also notable that a couple of 'you know who' departees from last season have failed to either pass on their congratulations to the club or even mention our result on social media, that in itself speaks volumes.

We are a different club compared to Lam's era.
I actually can't wait for match day whereas with Lam I I dreaded the thought of a game.
Peet and his team have transformed the atmosphere of the whole club including players, staff and most importantly the fans.
I assume it's Hastings that you are referring to?
