| As i understand it the only reason the deal to Parramatta fell through was because the NRL werent happy with the funding of the Folau transfer so they pulled out of the Hock transfer. To go on loan for a year and then sell him to Parramatta next season sounds like a sensible idea. He'll be going to a club who I wouldnt class as a rival challenging for honours so is unlikely to bite us in the aris and we get the money for him next year.

| Perhaps I am old fashioned, with a simplistic view. But if this is in any way true, hock needs to grow a backbone, knuckle down and honour his contract. All you have in this life is your honour, everything else is just 'stuff' so I would set a precedent and make him train and play or penalise him financially so that he is not stealing a wage.
Just grow up and get on with it, he has the chance to be remembered as one of the great players in our game, or a spoiled ex-junkie who spits out his dummy if things get too tough for him.
But then again, if this situation pans out to be nothing more than speculations of enthusiastic fans, then I will scream his name from the terraces like I always do.
I would love to see him happy at the club, he has devastating potential, but this may be the biggest decision of his life, I hope he chooses us.

If the only alternative is a loan spell at Widnes, maybe he'll think he hasn't got much option.

| If Hock goes on loan with a view to being 'sold' the season after, in effect he will never play for us again. This would free up cap space for this year, we arent short of second rowers at the moment but in the likley event though of HH going in 2014 we need to take the year out to look at our options.
Just a theory though, and I have no info on what the problem is but if its between Hock and Wane, will SW still be at Wigan for 2014?

| If Hock wants to go to oz so badly why cant a tribunial be set up so Wigan get a fair value and Hock the ozzie club get what they want, that way all parties are happy. The rift rumour is just a consequence of a poor international transfer system. If we get £100K it would be a reasonable offer and he wouldnt be here inflicting damage on us. This is such a badly managed affair

| Should Gaz Hock go out on loan I do hope Shaun Wane doesn't allow him to play against us as he did with Marsh at Widnes.
Carmont was rested and Hughes played at 4 and just couldn't cope with Marsh. Marsh won MOM.
To make that mistake once was bad enough, to repeat the mistake with Hock would be dreadful and if the opposition won, for a second time, SW would be in an awful situation.

I agree. I can't remember the words he used to justify letting our on-loan players play against us but it was certainly down to a misplaced sense of fair play in my opinion. This is professional sport not a Roy of the Rovers comic strip where you can adopt the moral high ground and win through in the end. Hock is far too good to have to face and if he Goes go on loan and we can prevent that (which is what usually happens with on loan players) then we should.

Cup matches and play offs agreed, but in the run of the mill league games last season proved that the more experience we get playing good opponents on a regular basis, the better.

On loan players will never play against us in cup or play-off games. In a cup game they would then be cup tied if we needed them later and the idea we would risk one of our own players being instrumental in our exit from the play-offs is crazy. Never going to happen.
So the only games outside those we can prevent them playing against us in are league games and so we should. It's just as crazy to countenance Hock helping a team take two points off us as it is him helping them knock us out of the play offs. You are suggesting we make it deliberately harder for ourselves as some sort of training exercise. It's not that, it's the league and fans want to watch the team win games. If Hock took Wigan apart in the pack when Wigan could have prevented him from playing at all, the calls for Wane's head would go through the roof.
Hopefully Wane has learned his lesson form last season the last thing you need is a set of highly motivated Wigan players taking two points off their own team.

I expect you to be proven right if Hock goes to Widnes, no official arrangement would be made but Hock would have to pull out due to some injury. What great box office (and extra workload for the disciplinary panel) it would be though if Hock did pack down against Wigan.

But you can (and we have done in the past) stipulate on-loan players can't play against their own team. So I would think with a player of Hock's calibre that would be the first line on the loan agreement.

| Without going into all of the previous comments regarding Gaz Hock, I would just like to say that this kid has all of the potential and the physical attributes required to be a stand out player and in any hemisphere too, but sadly he is currently lacking the right attitude and application to be a world star or even a top star in SL when the big games come around
Gaz Hock needs to re-evaluate his life urgently and prioritize where this potential could possibly take him, I personally believe that he should be regarded alongside players like Gareth Ellis when he retires, but sadly i fear that he will be remembered as an If only type of player

| Quite a lot of negativity towards Hock on this thread. Obviously people are buying into a lot of the rumours that are flying around. Think a few people will be left very surprised if the truth ever comes out about the real reason he is leaving Wigan

Do we ever find out the REAL truth, when these things happen?

| The real truth in this situation would be quite damaging for Wigan RL IF true (although I believe it is)
