| Quote: pyeman "Yes i have heard wigan fans say such things, there has been plenty of hatred from wigan fans towards lindsay and wheelan. Our chairman never did any such thing, an anouncer who is no longer at the club did. the worse thing i have ever heard of a chairman do is deliberatley cheat. As for idiots at clubs most clubs think our fans are great and look forward to coming to our ground, so to sugggest we have more of a problem than other teams is rubbish. Same with warrington fans, no else seems to have a problem with them. Wigan fans have one of the worse reputations in the league, but thats not the issue, the issue is that some fans on here think its ok to label all wire fans as scum, which is disgusting and doesnt belong in rl, i would say the same to any other fans that labelled another set of supporters as scum, the fact that you are supporting the people that say such things say alot about you.
As for nerve i think its amazing the number of wigan fans that had the nerve to go on our board revelling in the fact that you had cheated to stay up. Its a free country and i'm entitled to my opinion, and my opinion is that its wrong to label an entire set of supporters as scum.'"
Selective memory too, eh? There's a surprise.
If I could be bothered, I'd go looking for the posts made on this board by Cas fans threatening to give Wigan fans a few slaps on their fist visit after relegation. Not that any of you did, which is somehow even more pathetic.
You're a joke, and you know it.
The very fact that you're on here angrily defending Wire fans, who far and away have the worst rep in RL, indicates that you've still got a bug in your ass about Wigan. Grow up and get some self-respect.

Not a selective memory at all, you making stuff up (or being too stupid to know the differance between a chairman and an anouncer) has nothing to do with my memory. I can remember wigan fans threating to start fights as well not that any of them did. i wonder what your reaction to my first post would have been if i supported another club? Would you still have defended the poster for calling all wire fans scum. As for them having the worse reputation in the league thats rubbish and you know it, at least 3 clubs in the league have a worse reputation. The fact of the matter is that you made this about cas vs wigan i didnt, i posted that i didnt think that it was right to label all wire fans as scum who i supported and who the poster i replied to supported shouldnt have even been an issue, but it was made into one, if anything i expected other wigan fans to side with me, as what that poster said has no place in rl. You can put all this effort into slagging of cas but cant be bothered to say anything to a poster with an attitude that doesnt belong in rl, which says alot about you.

| I have been to countless Wigan v Warrington matches and never witnessed anything like some of the things that have been mentioned on this thread. I think it is only wise to go on personal experiences rather than second or third hand anecdotal evidence which you don't know all the facts for (words and tone of voice can twist the connotations of what happened). Someone can tell you of seeing someone getting shoved over and omit (or not be aware) that the person getting shoved over had been taunting the person that shoved them.
I was sat in amongst the Warrington fans at Wembley in 1990 with my dad (part of an organised trip and we ended up with the tickets meant for the Wire fans on the trip). Wigan battered Warrington that day and their fans were nothing but good natured throughout.
It is the same scenario for fans of all clubs, the vast majority are good natured and will enjoy a bit of banter and that's it. However particularly for a big game like on Saturday you will get a few hangers on who don't normally go and people are drinking from early in the day. Lots of booze and warm weather are not a good mix and some people will get a bit daft or agressive. You get the same on any weekend in and around pubs.
To tar all people with the same brush just because they support the same club is harsh and a bit daft to be honest. If people feel the need to tell others about one person or a small group who abused them then fine but there is no need to extend your opinion of them to fit everyone that supports the same club.

This is entirely reasonable, but it's hilarious that some little squirt from Castleford (of all places!) comes on here with a holier-than-thou attitude and expects to be taken seriously.

DONT JUST FOLLOW THE TEAM SUPPORT THEM: |
|
| i remember all the abuse thrown at us from cas fans because the felt they had been cheated when infact if they had bothered to look properly at the table we would of still stayed in super league and they still would of been relegated....but thats the past and should stay there
as for calling ALL wire fans scum i think that is out of order and i feel it should be stopped....the person who said it is being an idiot...out of the crowd on saturday only a handful caused a bit of comotion andf from what i saw it was delt with quickly......
after the game a bloke came up to me and was agressive (im 5ft 4in and female) but was quite shocked when i told him where to go.....but i put that down to him being an idiot not the whole of the wire fans. at wigan we have afew idiots who think they are being clever shouting stuff then hiding behind the crowd...sadly that is the way some are.......to stop it we have to tell them when it happens we the mijority wont tollerate that behaviour at our wonderful game.......all fans from all clubs should do it them maybe the idiots will stay at home or go follow another spoty

| Quote: Dave T "Unfortunately, incidents happens at games like this. Fans are drinking from early on, and are hyped up, so get giddy and act stupidly at times.
I have seen it at plenty of Grand Finals, between Saints and Leeds, and Wigan and Bradford.
It wasn't Warrington fans on those days.'"
and there lies the problem........alcohol.
its worse at G/F with the evening KO.
The solution Imo (and its drastic) would be to bring semi finals and finals of both G/F and CC forward to a noon kick off, and ban alcohol in the grounds, and let the ones who go for a booze up have one after the game when all the decent fans and families have gone home.
i predict by doing that there would be a great drop in attendances , which will strengthen my argument that some people use these events to have an all dayer and overdo it.

| A noon kick off for the CC final would be a problem in terms of fans who want to go there for the day as most will be coming from up north.
I can see your point and in a way agree with it but you won't stop the people drinking before the game, and the majority of people can drink without going on to cause trouble so perhaps what would be better is more proactive policing/stewarding of the game with those who are causing problems being removed from the game and the surrounding areas leaving those who do care about the actual game to enjoy it.

well thats another solution.
they do it a footy matches, and its an offence to enter a football ground under the influence IIRC.........if youve had too many , you dont get in.
a visit to the surrounding pubs too, and confiscate tickets off anyone who looks to have had too much to drink.......then they can stay in the pub and leave the rest of us to watch the match in peace.
the noon KOs are (i believe) done at the insistance of the local police who decide what times games kick off , as they are the ones policing the games. Saturday night they are srtetched enough in Manc, so if there carries on being bother at G/F they might force the RL to move the KO to noon , like they do with selective Man u and City games.

I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew

Mmm debateable.
From a personal point of view yes. I have beem to plenty of Hull matches and found the Hull fans ( both teams) great to be around, no problems whatsoever!

Totally agree. Its all alcohol related. They cant handle their drink. If they banned alcohol then the morons wouldnt even turn up, its just an excuse for an all dayer, like you said.
