Agreed just as many very good Aussies struggle also, its not as simple as saying if you are good in the NRL you will be good in SL, you have to look at the style of player and how they play the game not just the fact they are good in the NRL, something i think the clubs are quickly learning.

I keep hearing Orfords name, but how many watch him play often? he'd be an unknown in SL.'"
Not that many im guessing. That one or two games a week you guys get on Setanta seems to make many fans an NRL expert

Completely agree, we've all seen good Aussies come over to Superleague only to turn out to be overpaid has beens, doesnt take long to think of a few players like that. Its very hit and miss.

Indeed it is not hence you have to look at more than just the way they play in the NRL.

Because of how you rate the 2 (O Meley and Orford)
Orford is often patchy in games and has an awesome team around him, this won't happen at Wigan.
How many players come from Aus and don't have an impact? And yet you over look someone who has proved himself time and time again in SL, a winner a leader. Someone who is better than Orford, a know quantity.
O Meley this season and last hasn't been good, yet you talk about him as if he's still a top prop.

Where have i suggested he is a top Prop? I have actually stated he has struggled at the Roosters, what i have said his style suits the slower pace of the game that he will get in SL.
As for the description of Orford highlighted are you sure you are not confusing him with Sean Long?

I'm not going to get in a debate with you. I've seen how you post on here and I'm not being dragging into it.
It all comes down to opinion.
On this, mine and yours differ.

Where possible i'd like to see us sign players from this country that are settled in and know the demands of superleague without underestimating it like i feel alot of the Aussies do.
Thats why my 2 top targets would be Myler and Lynch but after those 2 we'd probably have to be going overseas because the quality just isn't available over here.
As for Long or Orford it's a tough one but for the sakes of keeping the partners in crime Long and Gleeson apart i'd probably edge towards Orford.

I agree, sorry if you felt you were getting dragged into anything? All i am saying is your description of Orford would match my description of Long but Long is older which makes him a less sensible option than Orford.

I would love us to sign Myler and play him alongside Tomkins but what would be the potential cost, it is very dificult to mature 2 young halves at the same time and may well harm there career. What i would like to see is both Orford and Myler signed if cap space would allow so that Orford could be used as the main 7 with Myler/Tomkins being used as his partner much in the same way as Burrow and McGuire were brought through with Duneman.
I rate Lynch but he is not the enforcer i feel we need he is the hard working support Prop and although he should not be Fielden is currently playing that role in our team along with Coley. If we are to get the right ballance to the front row I do not think Lynch is the man.

Firstly it's easy to get the impression Orford doesn't want to come to Wigan or the UK as he's said on many occasions he wants to finish his career at Manly.
He's never played SL rugby.
He's hardly had to play in the rain and bad weather conditions which we have in SL.
These are all factors.
Long however doesn't have the same issues. IMO, I think if possible, signing both him and Myler and a prop is they way forward if we can fit them under the cap.

Orford has also been patchy in games. He is no Andrew Johns. I'd take Kimmorely over him from the NRL. Or Sean Long.

So sign Sean Long then. He can show Tomkins the ropes. Moreover he is not going to be commanding a massive wedge on the salary cap. Something Orford defo would.
Also Last Son of Wigan wants to put Tomkins at fullback. An interesting proposition imo.

I fully understand the reason for your opinion, but again i can counter Long has continued to say he does not want to leave Saints. Regards the conditions he may not have had to play in the cold but will certainly have played in the rain.
You seem to be hell bent on ignoring the problems that Long has yet keen to highlight the issues Orford has when they could very well be applied to Long.
Of the argument pro Long all i can see as a valid one is that Orford has not played in SL, which is fair enough, but in my opinion his style is very much suited to SL and to be fair there are not many good NRL 7's that do not go well in SL, its usually the forwards or wider players that struggle.
