| Happy with Coral as sponsor. And nothing wrong with having a bet whatsoever. But (and here's the moan) -
3/1 to win the GF and 5/1 for Josh as top try scorer is hardly going to have punters reaching for their wallets!
I'd have thought given how awful Josh is now supposed to be, according to all the posters on the international threads, that 25/1 would be more in keeping.

They could have a race, similar to the mascots race at the end of the season.
Or maybe just a race to the bar. Coral could run a book on it. I think I could have a good guess who would have the longest odds.

| I think its great we have a national brand as a sponsor. "Houses for Homes" had "Eddie Stobart" written all over it. Naff deal IMO.
Anyone moaning about a bookmaker as a sponsor is daft. I am not a betting man myself but betting is a part of all sport. God knows where he got it from but my son always has a bet on the first try scorer and the result at the DW!

The history of most sports is tied in with gambling. From prize fighting and hare coursing to horse racing, greyhound racing and even a sport like cricket which was usually played for big wagers (11 men of England v 22 men of Kent that sort of thing) in the early 19th century.
It doesn't half keep your interest going if you've got a few quid riding on the outcome. Last try scorer is my favourite because even if the game is done and dusted your man can win you a few quid and pay for the day.
Betting on the number of collapsed scrums is the only way I can watch a game of Union.

| It may seem terribly ignorant but...
Who were Houses for Homes?
We wound up with a huge, god-awful, iron-on safety plaster on shirts so I assumed it was a charity we'd put on at the last minute (after failing to secure a decent sponsor?).
Can't understand any objection to Coral, other than the possibility of another big logo that peels after two washes. Vanity is a killer that way.

* Directors (at least one of 'em) friends of IL
* NOT a charity
* Company explicitly set up as a vehicle for the sponsorship (Nov last year)
* Company No. 08782551
* Not filed any accounts
* Be very surprised if not wound up in the next month or so
* Absolutely no publicity linking the club with anything they've done (I challenge anyone to find anything since the original announcement)
* I can't see we got anything out of this except for a really naff logo
* Perhaps I am an old cynic, but this smells more than little fishy

When we went with them I did a bit of digging and found they are run out of managed offices in Congleton and the best I could fathom is they were some sort of investment company designed to get funds for others to build social housing. As its web site says "helping its customers take advantage of a number of helpful commercial and tax benefits." to basically fund building cheaper.
I suppose you could look at them in two ways. They are socially responsible by getting houses built cheaper. Or they are part of the modern corporate world of reducing the tax liable as they set up a tax efficient trust that (I think) owns the development. A kind of tax advice services for those wishing to build houses. Either way it looks like a very minimal sized operation.

If you can be bothered see if you can work out what the angle is. Me? I prefer Coral!
