| now the doubters know why IL and the coaching staff paid a transfer fee for him, also think the club need to start talking next year about increasing the option of the 1 year for 2015 to a 3-5 yr contract (no doubt they already are). As a prop/second row he will only get better as he matures.
Hope Hopkins turns out just as good.

I agree, however Wane seems to prefer bringing Taylor on off the Bench, so Dudson may start more next season.

What are we going to do with any more fees? We already have a top training facility, employ people like Bitcon and so on. There is only so much back room/off field stuff you can do. I don't see any kudos in tying a player to longer contract in order to extract a fee. It just hits the bottom line but a team of our standing, support and success should not need the money.

"what are we going to do with more fees?"
Really?
Are you trying to say that we have no requirement for income except for procuring players?
Besides the obvious costs involved in running a successful sport club there are many hundreds of things that will be assisted with extra cash in the bank.
What do you mean by "kudos?"
Has it escaped your attention that we bought Scott Taylor using cash in the first place?

| Great player and a lot of improvement in him yet! Already a big lad but should put a lot of size on in the next few years. Should be ahead of Mossop (who imo is overrated) in selection for England.

Ah good business sense. Say we hit another recession, attendances plummet, sponsorship money goes down the pan with companies not spending on sponsorship deals for less popular sports. It last a good few years. Is it not good for a club to have rainy day money, for many reasons, or shall we just let players move on free because you spat your dummy over a player wanting to do what most normal people would do, double their income, become the best they can be whilst living in a much nicer place?
You really do need to let it go now. It's bordering on an obsession.

| I'd said on a post some time ago started by jonh when comparing the 2012 with the 2013 squad, that Scott Taylor will become a fans favourite after a talk I'd had with a Hull KR physio at Christmas time. It appears he was right! He's been outstanding this year and I can only see him progress to get even better, I'm looking forward to see what Hopkins brings to the team next year as I think potentially he'll be quite similar in becoming another fans favourite.

So would you rather we only sign players to contracts that they are 100% going to keep? Genuine question. Do you think we should have signed Sam on a 2 year deal and then let him go for free now? Surely you can see that the whole reason that these long deals are being signed by our better youngsters is as a buffer to ensure that if we do lose them we actually get something in return.
All RL clubs need extra money. Saying "we are Wigan we shouldn't need the money" is complete nonsense.

Still gutted he refused to talk about a contract extension with us.

| The amount of meters Taylor makes after collision is just awesome, one of the best leg pumps in the game, same goes for Flower. They've both consistently outperformed Mossop for me this season (although I haven't seen the stats). Crosby has been right up there as well. Dudson a bit behind, but work on his discipline and some work in the weight room can sort that out.
Taylor
Flower
Crosby
Dudson
That's a very good young pack that is only going to get better, and if this lad from Leigh, Sam Hopkins is as good as I'm hearing, the future is bright for the Wigan front row.
