| Barrett was amazing for Wigan and that night at Bradford in the play-offs is a game I will never forget.
He is/was a truly World Class player and players of this greatness are a sad loss to the game when they reach the age were they cannot carry on playing.
The great thing about our sport is that the next world class player is always there to take over the mantle. The King is Dead..Long live the King...
Watching players like Barrett make me smile... Our sport is a minority sport in this country for reasons that I still cannot fully fathon. I am just glad my Dad was a Wigan Fan who showed me the light and that I can pass that light to my son... Yes we are a minority sport but we(RL Fans) arn't half lucky to watch our great game every week...
PS.. I was going to call our son "Trent".... Lets just say the wife wasn't too keen... so WE! agreed on "Jake"!!! Women

Trent is one of the best players I have seen in the cherry and white.............
Having named my 21 year old, Greg, after one of our great scrum halves, surely you called your son Jake Trent?

| I saw Barrett play for Australia and always wished I could see him in person each week.

True, he was magnificent for Wigan.
He was a player that proved that Australians can settle into a new team and a new country from game 1.
I remember Stevo rambling on about how Barrett would come good on the harder grounds but he was first class from day 1 when we played Warrington in the snow.
Im sure Tim Smith will benefit from playing with him for the rest of the season at Cronulla.

TBH it wasn't just the "MRS" that didn't agree with me calling our son "Trent".. The whole family were less than impressed..
At least it will be a good story to tell Jake in years to come. I would have loved it if my Dad had named me after say Brett Kenny... thinking about it now... he was a fan of Steve Hampson... He isn't with us anymore to ask him... but I might start using that line in future.....

Hampo was my favourite full back and ironically last season was interviewed on Sky during a game saying he had just got a bloody nose in a boxing session. The lad who snotted Hampo was my eldest.

I bet thats your son's claim to fame... I know if it was me, it would be mine....
Don't you know I was named after Wigan Legend Steve Hampson.... (Has a good ring to it doesn't it?)
I bet you've been at a bit of a loss this week "East" with no attendance updates to calculate?

| What a great player Barrett is. I used to love watching him, but I didn't realise how much until he left. Once he'd gone, I went right off going to games. Then Sam Tomkins came through and it was all OK again. Thanks for the memories. I'll take standing on the side at Odsal watching him throw a cut-out to Mark Calderwood in the 2007 playoff - the pass that got me believing it might just happen.

The scary thing is we'd be even better than we currently are with him!! I'll stick my neck out and say we'd be unbeaten if he was because he had that nous to get us through the close games! (cue trolls after my unbeaten comment)
