| Quote: Ian Roberts Closet "Its all a little boring now!! Most fans didnt like Phil Clarke before his comments but as stated he isnt a Wigan official or spokesman. The club have just kept quiet all season and just got on with things rather than use the press to make their point or to put pressure on refs to keep their eye out for things!
McClennan and Peacock feel they have to speak out let them get on with it!
But the outcry from Leeds fans to Phil Clarke is funny they have forgot Fat Gary as been doing it for years!!'"
something which has been lost by both sides, Why some Leeds fans have blamed Wigan fans for Phil Clarkes comments i dont know,
Similarly I've no idea why some Wigan fans have taken McClennans criticism as an insult to the warriors.

| Wigan should keep out of all this and just do it on the field and I am glad that our coach just gets on with the job does't go on Sky all the time, but I am sure he will have plenty to say in the dressing room before the game.
Bring it on.

I wonder how some people especially regular Rlfans posters can even try to justify other posters use of neck injury pictures at anytime !!!!

Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.

cartoons/WB96.gif Too busy being frustrated by today to worry about tomorrow....:cartoons/WB96.gif |

| Have to admit I thought McG was milkiing it after he went down and indulging in gamesmanship to put Pat off and I suspect that is an element of what Piggy and Tommy thought but no one likes to see a player get a serious and possibly career threatening injury. That said he didn't endear himself to the West Stand by giving us the finger as he was carried off.
All things considered Bluey and JP are trying to deflect the attention off their side and put all of the focus and pressure on Wigan, fair play to them if they feel they need to but Madge and Wane will just carry on doing what they have been doing all season and let others rant and moan while they get on with the job.
We've answered our critics in the best possible way this season by going out and turning sides over, yes we have conceeded a lot of penalties but it's usually because they've not kept their cool as they have probably been told to do and fallen foul of wind up merchants (Joel vs Leeds and Stu vs Hudds) or because they have just had a brain-fart (Coley vs Catalans).
We just need to keep our cool and worry about our game, let Leeds get themselves wound up and if we keep our cool and don't conceed daft penalties (mentioning no names Joel!!!) then we are the better side and should be able to win.

This was in a thread where Wigan fans were talking about preparing Phil Clarke masks after his comments regarding Danny Mcguire deserving a potentially career-ending injury. Showing a picture of the injury which did end Clarke's injury highlighted the hypocrisy of Clarke and some Wigan fans support of his comments.
The fact you havent levelled the same ire at those supporting Clarke highlights your hypocrisy.
The fact that thread has now been removed highlights the huge hypocrisy in the moderation of this board.
The Clarke picture was in bad taste, but its use wasnt to mock Clarkes injury but to highlight said hypocrisy. If someone was simply mocking Clarkes injury and not referencing his comments then I wouldnt defend it.

| Your comments on this thread compared to your comments on the now deleted thread (were you try to justify the use of a neck injury picture) prove that your one of the biggest hypocrites to grace these boards , and i think the mods did the correct thing ,although leaving it in place would have shown you up to the hypocrite you really are .
PS Nowhere in any of my posts will you find me condoning any injury on anyone .

| Quote: SmokeyTA "Surely it would be the most penalised team in the league would be looking for a penalty-a-thon, considering it is how they have played all year and been fairly successful at it?'"
Funnily enough - I doubt it. We've generally played much better when we haven't given away lots of penalties. I suspect that you would find that the games we've given away the most penalties would be the ones we've lost. The last leeds game was a prime example when we let a team back into the match with silly penalties. The last giants game was another. In both games we let dirty tactics by our opponents get to us and rather than stick to the game plan; we sunk to their level - Joel Tomkins stupid kick on McGuire (following his elbow to the face) a prime example. Likewise the CC game that we lost. That's not to say that we haven't been beaten by better teams this year - but it's clear to see that the Wigan fans have not be happy by the tactics of other clubs.
Most of our penalties have been technical ones - and considering the way that certain coaches complained about our defense; I am pretty sure that didn't exactly help us. The standards of the referees in our game are at an all time low and some seem to take great delight in blowing the pea out of their whistle when they ref us. Others have been influenced by the media or the crowd at away games. Likewise some of our sin-bins have been frankly ridiculous, the Coley one on Burrow being a prime example (especially considering Ablett stayed on the pitch for one of the worst challenges I have ever seen); the one that Farrell got for a supposed late challenge on McQuire when he rolled around on the floor like he was a goldfish out of water being another.
Wigan have got the best results when we have played fast free-flowing expansive rugby; coupled with tight and aggressive defense.
If McClennan/Peacock is not trying to dial up the tension and turn the game into a grudge match filled with brawls and biff, then why are they making all the noise in the press? No-one from the Wigan camp has started harping on about wanting to settle the score or being cheated out of the last game. Neither have any of our players called any of the Leeds team "cowards" for their actions - which considering some of the challenges that they (Peacock included) have targeted on one of our best players is hypocritical to say the least. Or is it just a coincidence that Tomkins has been victim to some calculated acts of thuggery by the Leeds pack?

I think you find i made the exact same point on the other thread, maybe you are confusing me with someone else.
And I didnt say you condoned injury to anyone. I said you havent levelled the same criticism at those proposing Clarke masks as you did at the person who put the picture of Clarkes injury on the other thread highlighted your hypocrisy.

'" You cant seriously be blaming other teams for you giving away the most penalties in the league. Of course you have done better in the games you have given away fewer penalties, thats the sam for everyone.

So now its the referees and other coaches fault as well? you cant seriously beleive that the responsibility for Wigan giving away the most penalties lies with opposition players, opposition coaches, referees and THEN Wigan.
Quote: BlackKnight "
Wigan have got the best results when we have played fast free-flowing expansive rugby; coupled with tight and aggressive defense. '" and everyone else would accurately say the same
Quote: BlackKnight "If McClennan/Peacock is not trying to dial up the tension and turn the game into a grudge match filled with brawls and biff, then why are they making all the noise in the press? Wigan have their fair share of people ready to mix it. They are the most penalised team in the league and Joel Tomkins is the most penalised player. That is the case not because of a conspiracy but because they also arent afraid to mix it, they also arent afraid to bend te rules. Peacock said it was a cowardly act because it was. I have no doubt that if Riddell or Lueluai knew the full extend of Mcguires injuryt they wouldnt have done what they did.

Smokey, if you don't like the way this board is run, you can always just leave.
A lot of opposition fans are given a great deal of leeway on this board, far more so than is shown on southstander for example.

| ha ha, 13 odd pages of this and i've read about a handful of decent posts. shouldn't this thread be renamed the slang off match between rlfans networks???
at the end of the day phil clarke is not a wigan coach, player or anything to do with the club anymore. what he said, whether rightly or wrongly was said and thats that. nothing that he said or what we say as a result will prove whether mcguire did indeed bring the injury on himself or not and of course whether he deserved it.
all i will say is what goes around comes around. it seems to me that leeds will take a good battering on saturday and i would be saying that if i wasn't a wigan fan.
as i mentioned in a previous thread where i was subjected to verbal abuse from a mother at the wigan v leeds play off game, people will somehow someway get what they deserve and hopefully good will come of this.
as a wigan fan, i love nothing more than hating the leeds team. maybe it is because of their recent successes since wigans last decade of demise. maybe it is because i am truly jealous of their "support" as sinfield mentioned in a bbc story earlier tonight, a support which by the way wasn't enough to ensure they were the best supported team this year. i'd happily take a loss against saints or wire before leeds and every injustice that has come of us in that leeds game last week (i know we didn't exactly do ourselves any favours) will be flipped on its head come saturday.
wigan will progress to the final and the rest of the rl world will realise what kind of team leeds really are through and through. wigan have won the league the honest way, leeds have won nothing yet because they have not.

For you education and edification ,I reported the thread to the site admin rather than posting any form of justification on any injury , actions speak louder than the words of any hypocrite.
Put any spin on it you like you should be ashamed of that post and your own response . you have no credibility as far as i'm concerned , you've not even got the backbone to admit it was a poor lack of judgment.
