Evidently, you are not aware that the final say on the signing of players at Wigan has always been done by those running the club, always has been and always will be as they are the ones who deal with the finances of the club.
In other words now Owner Lenagan and Director Radlinski as a former player who knows about playing the game
If you think that Wigan have a great squad for Lam to coach, so be it.
Many supporters including myself don't think the squad is as strong as it should be at the present time as a result of the financial situation at the club which has seen Lenagan sell around 24% of his shareholding to get more investment into the club.
Not Lanagan/Radlinski bashing, just facing facts!

| Lam has enough quality in his squad to not get battered in three semi finals on the trot without us even looking like we fancy having a crack.
Recruitment in the prop department needs to be better but Lam is the worst recruitment decision Ian Lenagan has made in his time at Wigan.

The decision on Saturday to go with only one prop forward and two second rows on the bench was bemusing. The forecast all week was for heavy rain and a strong wind and he picked a dry weather team.
At 10 - 0 down with about five minutes to half time I was reasonably confident that in the second half we could bring Harry Smith on kick them deep to their half.
The loss of Havard was immense because of Lams sub selection, he really has to take the majority of the blame for that loss.
I don't do knee jerk reactions, as most of you know I'm normally very supportive but he really needs to have a good look at himself and change things around quickly otherwise it's a JIm Reeves song.
I hope he manages it BUT it doesn't look promising.

We have a team coached poorly, who are lacking the right players because of poor recruitment by Radlinski. Back office and coaching staff are to blame imo.

Last seen losing 6 games in a row with Hull KR before being sacked. This is the type of thing I'm talking about when I'm saying we shouldn't sack Lam now and be rushed into getting just anybody.

We shouldn’t rush into anybody and you won’t find me advocating for Tim Sheens. Yes he was a superb coach in his day but that’s long behind him now. We’re not going to win anything this season and I say that with equal amount of confidence and disappointment. It’s abundantly clear Lam just isn’t good enough. For me pull the trigger and get rid so we can start to build again. Clear out the rest at seasons end.

I've read this a few times from Wigan fans about how good the team is.
The outside backs (wingers and full back) are excellent. Hastings is also excellent.
The centres are OK - Bibby/Zak playing there are pretty average.
The pack has a couple of promising young lads but is nowhere near good enough.
That is not a great team. Not just because of the result at the weekend, but I think when it comes to the big games the team is a fair way short of Saints and Wire, particularly if those games come when it's not blazing sunshine for trying to play around bigger packs.
Might be proved wrong but would be surprised.

It’s as good as the Saints side Holbrook inherited!
Makinson wasn’t the Makinson we saw under Holbrook before he came.
Lomax wasn’t the Lomax we saw under Holbrook before he came.
Thompson wasn’t the Thompson we saw under Holbrook before he came.
Damn he even got dross like Peyroux and LMS playing well
Good coaches get more out of players, they improve them and take them on a level. There’s as much talent in Manfredi and Burgess as there is in Makinson, Hastings is a better player than Lomax as it is but there’s more in him, there’s more in Hardaker than he’s showing, there’s more in Bullock, more in Greenwood, more in Gildart even and so on. There’s a wealth of young talent to work with and to improve. If Holbrook could get Grace a first team gig and the billing he gets then by god I’d love to see what he’d drag out of Harry Smith, Morgan Smithies, Ethan Havard etc.
This isn’t a great team, you’re absolutely correct but it has enough talent in the squad to compete with any other squad in superleague.

Thanks for proving my point of who is to blame where recruitment is made, be it players or even a coach.
As for the prop forward position, you cannot expect young inexperienced players to do a job which should be done by more experienced players, but the problem at Wigan in recent games is a situation where our more experienced props are either past their best, injured (even one when signed) suspended, or not got the class or experience like the more experienced props at other clubs. It is no better in the wing position where one player has got a long term injury, one not playing anything like he was prior to himself having long term injuries and on the other wing, a player who is only playing due to the long term injury to another player and who at the end of the season is said to be going to another club and no other specialist winger in the present squad.
At the moment, the present squad is weak where good experienced prop forwards and wingers is concerned, a situation which Lanagan and Radlinski need to address as soon as possible.
Not to mention, a leader who has been a great and outstanding player and leader, but is now is only playing in odd games and when in the limited time he spends on the field is playing nothing like he has played in the past and should now be considering retiring while he is still at the top.
We may have the largest squad and the best academy in our game, but the fact remains that we have problems in the two positions mentioned!

I'd argue that the winger situation is one that no one could have foreseen (although I'm sure you'll say differently).
At the start of the season Marshall, Manfredi and Burgess, with cover from Bibby as 4th choice, seemed like a very good collection of wingers imo. It's unfortunate that Manfredi is struggling for form and Marshall has suffered a long term injury.
Show me another team in the league that has 4 front line wingers like we do. Yes other teams have one winger who is better than all of ours, but most sides would up creek if they had to drop down to their 4th choice option.
