I agree
However there were multiple times on these boards when there was near meltdown because Madge or IL had refused to comment on RFL decisions, Disciplinary outcomes, poor refereeing or other coaches comments (Nathan Brown after Luke Brown got banjoed of SOL?) etc.
Best to take the high moral ground and keep shtum IMO, but its lose / lose as far as fickle fans are concerned |

Well fair enough, but it's still hype & sensationalism.
Big-fat-hairy-deal, our resident silverback has a pop at someone deliberately trying to gain an advantage by feigning or exaggerating contact. This is rugby, not wendyball. Anyone who didn't point it out and turned a blind-eye would be suspect in my book.
Instead of criticising what SW has apparently said, those who actually give a toss, should be looking at whether there was an attempt to cheat and have a go at them. I wasn't alone in giving abuse to Tomkins when he was rolling about on the park right below my seat like a stuck pig and I'd repeat it for anyone who tried it on again - from either side - no matter how senior. |

Sums it up nicely.
Mellor tried to com the ref once from what I saw but only Eamon O'Carroll actually fell for it (well and the Widnes crowd but as I said in the night- I'm sure they were trying to break the world moaning record to go on top of the other record they set earlier in the day).
Wane needs to stop running his mouth off IMO. He's feeding people with snippets that they then make more of. The players are getting suckered in to niggly push and shove matches all over the place at the moment and it's stemming from Wane IMO.
We need to get back to being the aggressive side who played with cool heads that we were for Maguires time and the vast majority of Wanes.

If he says it then he must back it up, or it ends up just being an opinion. and if you think they didn’t, then without proof then that’s just your opinion too. They can say he’s wrong in saying it, but I can’t see how they can prove him wrong. Anyway how many times has a player been wrongly awarded a try when he knows it wasn’t? From a forward pass say, or a bit of a knock on, or gained advantage by getting away with a ball steal, or even a sly chops rattler that wasn’t spotted by the officials. All of which I accept would never happen at Saints; but still wouldn’t you call that cheating? If it’s your team that gets away with it you don’t criticise it, you justify it by saying “they all do it”. And if that’s the case we’re all hypocrites! So please get off you high horse, unhitch it from the bandwagon, and move on! |
