Plus the league's top try-scorer for the vast majority of the match.
Any update on Josh yet?
I know he came over to us after the match with a "boot" on (the same thing as Pat was wearing after his achilles operation).

Phil Wilkinson said his injury is a gash to lower leg, 15 stitches put in, Wane said post match "he is a back so is acting it up a bit"

| Charnley did have a boot on but he was putting his weight through it no problem and hardly had a limp so a gash sounds about right.
I'd give Manfredi a shot next week and let Charnley have the week off.

Embarrasing is putting it lightly to say the least, i was in the Harry poole bar after the game to listen to Sandercocks defence of his sides pathetic performance, his excuse of...... Wigans back line were world class does not fool me or most other long time supporters, i have watched the game of RL for 45 years as well as playing for a while when was younger and i can honestly say that the display today was an absolute disgrace of the highest order.
The coach has to take some of the blame but so do the players, they need to look in the mirror and ask themselves ....am i worthy of this shirt and the loyal supporters who graft their balls off every week to come and support me and give my all for this club, if no then they need to sling their hook now.
I also believe this shows that the game generally is not in as healthy shape as some would have us believe.

Easter schedule should be scrapped for the simple fact the lower teams can't compete with the top teams on the Monday IMO. Rovers give every team a good game at home but today was just a joke and bad for RL.'"
I understand your comment but, surely its up to the "lower strength clubs" to step up a gear, not scrap the system because it doesn't suite them.
As the league stands at the moment you are the 8th best team in super league, if that remains the position at the end of the season its job done, and todays score stands for jack sh8.
IMHO, if we can't have a relegation system (and I understand why we can't) the thing we could well do with in SL is a bonus point system similar to the one in yawnion, this may go a long way to helping prevent embarrasing score lines like todays.
That being said, I was in the Well and listening to the comments (abuse) it was all the refs fault for not keeping Wigan onside, and for allowing all those forward passes, that was the real difference today (lol, twice)

Another one arguing that the tail should wag the dog? It's surely up to the lower teams to get better? Missing both half backs is a fair enough excuse for a poor attack, but not one for a poor defence.

| Got to agree with Wiganeers here.
The 2 coaches who before the game talked it down came away with pastings.
Other teams in equally tough positions came out fighting. The results may have gone as expected but because they put the effort in, the scorelines where respectable. Salford have hardly a great team, but they had something to fight for. Even Cas clawed some tries back at Saints.
If Wigan were suddenly at full strength and Hull KR were down to the academy, only then you may expect that score.
But Wigan are shot with injuries, Wigan had a game on Friday, Wigan where travelling away, but and this is the key, Wane would not accept anything like that kind of display from his under 15's facing a full Hull KR line up. He would have least expected to hold them to as few a points as possible. Although I would not put it beyond Wane to expect them to win.
Anyway that's enough of me agreeing with Wigan fans.

Does not make you a bad person .
Just a concerned Rugby League Fan , as we all should be . A coach who talks up defeat before the game has even started has no respect for the fans (especially his own fans) but still expects them to fork out good money to pay his wages .

The bonus point system in RU is an incentive to score tries (as that game typically lacks them) a team scoring IIRC 4 tries gets bonus points. In our game and the Hudds v Widnes one yesterday it is Wigan and Hudds that would have got bonus points for great attack (and would be incentivised to be as ruthless in all games).
If a bonus point system was to be implemented in SL then the one used in the Championships whereby a bonus point can only be earned by the losing side (if losing by 12 or less) would be better as that system rewards defence and encourages teams not to give up when falling 2 or 3 scores behind. The fact that this system has been in place for a few years and has not been extended to SL though suggests that a bonus point system will not be adopted in SL.

| It's another sad indictment of the move to U19's. Over the years we have gone from reserves, U23, U21, U20 to U19.
There is no way that the majority of U19 players are ready for first grade rugby. However I'm sure messrs Heathrington and Wood at their weekly meet up will be congratulating themselves.

| Its for the other clubs and the RFL to get their house in order.
Not Wigan's problem. We should continue to be ruthless and rack up as many points as we can when the opportunity arises. An added bonus is it makes Nigel Wood look even more daft with his recent, increasingly tiresome comments.

The whole academy rugby structure baffles me and it baffles me even more that we've agreed to it. We've got the 2 years unbeaten former U16s team sitting around doing nothing, apart from Gildart. There are lads from that team who are on pay as you play contracts so they're not earning anything and the lads that are on half decent contracts aren't getting any game time. We've got first teamers coming back from injury who can't play U19s and players who are 20 who are in limbo because they've not quite made SL level but are too old for U19s rugby.
I do hope it's restructured again for the start of next season.
