What I am trying to do here is flush out the truth.
Is there a 24 hour rule?
What is the logistical problem in turning the operation round in a day - is it the pitch? Is it the rubbish left behind?
My point is once we know the facts we can perhaps help. If the club say that it is the repair of the pitch that's the problem and only qualified people can work on it fair enough. At the moment all we get is Mr Whelan's telling us there is a 24 hour rule when this didn't seem to apply last year.'"
Don't think there is a 24hour rule. The Prem League though sets standards over the condition of the pitch. The problem is that, should we play the game at the DW and the ground gets cut up badly, then Latics could be charged with not doing everything they can to maintain the condition of the pitch. Even if they win the final game they could technically forfeit the points.
It's the only slight disadvantage of sharing a ground with a premier league club.

There is a 24hr a rule which means no game could take place after 3pm on saturday and because the BBC are showing the game it wont be played on friday.
Its a bloody disgrace you lot got a A grade license when you can't play games when your told too. Hull FC never had this problem when Hull city were in the Premier League. Considering your supposed to be the biggest RL club in the world its very amatureish that you cant supply a ground to fulfill your fixtures!

The main disgrace here is that you are waffling on about a 24 hour rule that doesn't exist. I stopped reading at that point but I'm sure the rest of your post was equally embarrassing and misguided.

According to the Wigan Today website which is where a read the article about the whole scenario there is a 24hr rule. www.wigantoday.net/sport/wigan-w ... -1-4507763
However it wouldnt surprise me if this was not the case. Irrespective of whether there is that rule or not its still a disgrace that you cant play when told to.

Think he means this.
"Premier League regulations mean the game would be unable to be staged at the DW just 24 hours before the Latics game - but Whelan says a Friday night slot would provide an ideal solution."

I have asked the club through Josie Andrews if it would help if fans volunteered to clear the stadium of rubbish etc after our scheduled match v Saints on the Saturday.
I await a response from the club.
I have created another thread as I would just like people to post here if they would in fact help because at the moment I will be on my own
I've sent you a PM on the other forum.

Who the hell are you that you know me so personally that I wouldn't reply to a question.
Post tidied up by pemps. I understand everyone's frustration but can we keep insulting posts and swearing to a minimum please?

| Is all this because the DW won't pay groundstaff to work overnight?

| Who is there to enforce this '24 hour rule', the police?
The Premier League/Football Association have NO control over the RFL.
Play the game. There is no-way that a Rugby League match in march could render a pitch unplayable. I'm sure it is up to the referee on the day to decide if the pitch is playable and I can't see any PL ref calling a game off because of a minimal amount of damage. There will probably be pitches in the PL that day in a worse condition that only soccer is played on than at the DW.

| The issue of the state of the pitch is a " red herring " the pitch is in good condition there will only be minimal damage it can be turned around in 24hrs no problem.
