Yes it was a far more entertaining game because the playtheball was policed better.
If I wanted to be able to make a cup of tea between seeing a man getting tackled and the ball being played I'd watch a union game.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.
Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

| I was bitterly disappointed with Reed in defense. Coming from the NRL I fully expected top notch defense from him. Yet what we got was someone rushing out of the defensive line every two minutes to shut the play down. He cost us two tries today by doing that.
I thought the back three were very good alongside Graham. Disappointed with Highton also.

| Still carrying too much dead wood. Morley & Peacock are past it at this level, and Wilkin & JJB should be nowhere near the side. Losing Graham was a big blow, he was immense first half.
I was impressed with all the back line, though, which is an area we've traditionally struggled. With a more sensible pack selection, it was there to be won after Slater went off.

| MOS Rangi Chase made four mistakes which contributed to Aussie tries...the interception, the 20m kick, rushing out of the line in between 2 Aussies and one more which I can't remember. I guess I'll have to watch it again. However with ball in hand he looked quick and evasive so if he can cut out the silly mistakes he will be fine.
I think Sinfield should be replacement hooker to give Roby longer rests so he can be more devastating when he comes on. Then we can keep Widdop on for all the game.
I think we lost because of injuries to key forwards Ellis and Graham who were magnificent early on.
Great game. Bring on New Zealand.

They took the lying on and ing around but as soon as we did it he was having none of it. The referee ruined it.
I enjoyed the game even though i only watched it on TV. International rugby league has gone up in my estimations a lot and i even got a few casual watchers with me interested. Thinking of making the trip to Hull next week now
We need more games against Aus and NZ and international rugby league can definatley get a lot bigger.
Stev Mcnamara needs to have a pop at the refereeing for next week. It will do the competition a world of good in we as hosts get in the final

| The best England performance for a long time. I have seen England be annihalated in similar games before but there is a lot more belief about this team and they did well. They kept going to the end and despite some dubious refereeing still had a real chance of winning it. Yes England still lost but there was a lot of positives to build on and the match, and England's performance, did the image of international RL the world of good imo.

| We need 4 props and Widdop has to play the full 80. Chase dropped altogether, I never agreed with his selection in the first place but he proved today he's not international class. Hopefully Ellis etc pull through, the last thing we want is Ryan Bailey getting included!

| The gap between England and this Australian team is not that great. England get to the final this could be their chance. Referee well if you lot are sitting on the fence then as a Welshman i am going to call him a cheat. No other word for it i know they are not supposedly to look at the screen for a transgretion but he could not have missed the high neck shot. To say he thought it was around the neck was a joke. He had 20-30 seconds to think about the try he disallowed but still gave the Aussie saide the decision nevermind when Peacock grabbed the lose ball and had a clear run in.
Look at all of them and the are not coincidence. Engalnd i think will beat NZ next week and this cheat should not be near the game. So give it to a complete neutral. Thierry (homeboy) Alibertt should be given it. Can't give it to a OZ or English ref.

4 props, absolutely! And at least one of Morley or Peacock has to be dropped, it's fine having experience in the pack, but we can't carry both of them. Carvell deserves a shot, and maybe LMS or Mossop, with an eye to the future.

Westwood tackled well but gave away too many penalties, we will miss Graham if his injury is serious, so lets call Mossop into the squad

| Same old heroic loss from England. I've been watching these games for thirty years and we are no nearer than ever. There is always an excuse but bottom line not good enough.
Morley, peacock too old, chase too kiwi, wilkin and jjb to not international class.
Not good enough again.

| Chase went to pieces after his horrendous brain fart of kicking the ball to the aussies from a 20m tap.
I don't think i'd drop him from the 17 but he may have to make so with being an impact sub allowing the more structured Widdop to start either at 7 alongside Sinfield or (and I can't believe i'm going to say this) at 6 alongside Danny McGuire.
