Can't afford to make all the playoffs so this is one I'll be missing. It helps me not to be too disappointed, in that it's an all but pointless match.

I think people are being pretty disrespectful of the likes of Catalans and Leeds when they label this game pointless.

The is not a pointless match; I certainly don't want us to have to play against a good side and risk being knocked out in a fortnight when the players could have their feet up preparing for one game to take them to OT.

Big game, particularly for Saints as it would breed confidence. This makes it a big game for Wigan for the same reason - to maintain the edge they have built up in recent games against us.

How can anybody say its pointless? Winning this week makes it easier to win the competition. Are people just saying its pointless because they dont wanna pay or cant make it? This game is anything but pointless especially with the opposition.

That's like saying finishing 1st instead of 8th is pointless as you're "still in the play-offs".

It makes it easier to reach (and thereofre win) the Grand Final. Far from pointless.

Judging the queues down there today, I don't think it's going to be a poor attendance. I reckon it'll be 18-19000 ish which is good for play off standards.

Would be a tremendous effort. Wigan's crowds are fabulous and a real credit to the club.

absolutely, this game is huge, the week off prior to the next game (likely to be against saints) would be fantastic. just refer to the wire/wigan game for how crucial a week off can be.

although we managed it last year so no reason we can't play every week and still win the grand final

The fact that the playoffs (the so-called pinnacle games of the season) are played in front of significantly lower crowds than regular season games is a real problem for Super League.

The RFL should introduce a policy that allows all ST holders to purchase playoff tickets for half price. Rewards fan loyalty and gives an extra incentive to buy season tickets in the first place.

I dont know how anyone can call this game pointless! If we win on Sunday our route to the final could potentially be:

Week 1: Saints (H)
Week 2: OFF
Week 3 Saints (H)

As opposed to if we lose:

Week 1: Saints (H)
Week 2: Catalans (H)
Week 3: Saints (A)

I know which one I prefer the look of. I don't think we will make the final if we lose this weekend.
