| Quote tugglesf78="tugglesf78"Talking out your arris there pal.
I remember a very young Fielden showing the master a few "tricks" when Barrie decked him during the tackle. Noble even alluded to the fact that Barrie got done in the post match interview IIRC. Somthing along the lines of student showing the master a thing or two.
These two must have had half a dozen scraps and i cant think of one occasion when you could say one battered the other.
Barries reputation may have preceded him, but Stu was more than a match.'"
No he wasn't.
Barrie did have a lot of respect for Fielden, but there was only ever one winner in the 'biff stakes'. Probably a different winner in the 'better prop forward stakes' though

and ask barrie about stu he'll tell you he's as tough as he's ever played against.

| There was a weird mutual respect between Barrie and Fielden. I remember them both getting binned for one of their frequent "disagreements" at Headingley, and as they ran off the field Barrie tapping Fielden on the shoulder and gesturing to him that they should have a pint after the game. Only in RL.
Didn't Fielden also get stopped by Lee Radford in one of those charity bouts?

Brian Mac and Adrian Vowles could both do a bit. I remember James Lowes starting a ruck with Vowles and Vowles dropping the ball and getting his fists up sharpish. He had solid technique. Lowes' a**e fell out pretty sharpish.

| The up-roar Bails generates is on a different planet.
Classic Bailey.
Lot's of re-hashed, heard it all before lines from his detractors.
But 10 seasons on the top in Super League, how come no-one has put this 'coward' in his box once and for all?
TMFMISL keeps coming forward as the target man and you lot just keep getting sucked in. YAWN

I would say Scully certainly did when he had Bailey doing his giraffe impression.

I'd have to agree there, the scrote had to be caught by two leeds players. Two cracking hits.

A cheap shot on the cheap shot merchant from a cheap shot merchant? Yup.
TMFMISL seemed to have dusted himself down after that incident.

| When the dust settles on Tomkins, TMFMISL et al maybe people will remember a decent final that was played out only on Saturday.
Congrats to you guys, it's all about getting over the finish line, not how you get there.
Hope we get another shot at Wigan come the play-offs a good pile of hate is piling up.

| My main hope for the Wigan-Leeds rivalry is that it stays parked in the club shirts over the autumn. On form, I would expect more Wigan players than Leeds in the 4 nations squad, but at the very least I think Sinfield, Peacock and Hall will be there, and we really desperately need a united England squad.
As enjoyable as the Saints v Leeds rivalry was in the 2007-2009 period, it didn't do the national team much good.

Not wanting to detract from what is a riveting thread.
But Peacock shouldn't be in the Four Nations squad. Plenty of other players have performed better than he has this season. Then again with McNamara in charge I fully expect Peacock to be there alongside a half blind Morley.
