| Quote: Rogues Gallery "The reason Coley got binned was for Wigans persistent conceding of penalties. That was the seventh consecutive one and Ganson had warned Wigan about it and to be fair to Ganson he also warned Leeds later for persistent infringing.
Saying that after watching the Sky+ recording when I got home I don't think Coleys was even a penalty.
Back on topic, Ablett deserves a three to four match ban.'"
12 pages over over reactions and one eyed drivel.
what would the ban be for...playing on the opposite side perhaps.
review the incident properly and you can see young ST stumbles as he catches the ball and falls into the tackle as Ablett makes the contact...NO raised elbows..contact made with the shoulder which is perfectly legal.
however contact is made to the head ( accidentally) SO THEREFORE GANSON GETS IT SPOT ON......IMHO OF COURSE. PENALTY AND ON REPORT
Baileys raised knee was no worse than dozens of Fieldens.... he will get a warning
Oh by the way best team won on the night congrats on the 2 points....

Yes one was deliberate contact and the other accidental contact

Sam doesn't stumble, never mind stumple. He was looking up, waiting for the ball. He wasn't bending down or ducking or crumpling or anything. Ablett's tackle was a clear smash to the head without excuse. That it was with his shoulder is presumably what Ganson thought as well and it does look likely. Alas, that is still legal, which is a great shame but this is the RFL we are talking about. Had Tomkins' neck snapped, which it could easily have done as a result of such a dangerous and reckless tackle, maybe then the RFL would have made the practice of shoulder charging someone's head illegal. Perhaps they will consider this instance and take action before someone's neck [iis[/i snapped - most likely by a Leeds player.

Fielden hasn't done it for ages and certainly didn't do it in that game. The fact Ganson even mentioned it to him just shows that he bases his judgment on how he thinks certain players behave and not on individual incidents themselves. He's not the only one either, can't remember who we were playing but I've got a game on DVD from early on in the season when Joel Tomkins was sinbinned about two tackles after Leuluai had been smacked in the face off the ball. The ref didn't even signal what the offence was and having watched it several times I couldn't work out what he had supposedly done but I think it was probably because he has a reputation for messing around in the tackle. Anyone remember when he got a caution for dropping his knees onto the grass next to a player?

| yes , that was in a home game , down at the north stand end , cant remember the opposition though
ganson is a show pony , making a big deal of the minor things when he is on tv , but bottling the big decisions when it counts

| Just watched the tackle. Abblott wants banning for at least 3 games, it was a disgusting cowardly act. The fact that Ganson didn't react just goes to show how much of a joke he is as a match offical.

| That smack has been long overdue for young Tomkins.
Perhaps now he will realise that what goes round, comes around, and he will concentrate on developing his undoubted skills, which should lead to a long International career, rather than being a little cheapshot merchant, with a penchant for tackling with his knees.
Congrats on winning last night. On the day you were the better side and Harrison's try was a cracker.
We may see you at the Grand Final.....or our second home as we know it!

| Well going off the Leeds comments I fully expect to see Sam Tomkins up before the RFL on Tue charged with Headbutting Abletts elbow!! As for Joel running in! Fair enough just as long JJB gets the same for doing the same or are Leeds allowed to do that!!

| Well it goes to show that you are not over reacting as one poster put it as if you look on our board (Leigh) everyone is as mystified as your fans to why it was not a straight red. By the way the thread topic is (what do you have to do to get sent off).

It will take more than a very very average player like Ablett to knock Tomkins of his stride.

| Have a look at the game again at 49 mins 31 secs when Sam Tomkins is being tackled by JJB then Ryan Bailey charges in swings his arm into the face of Sam Tomkins, same tackle on 49 mins 39 secs he sticks his left elbow in Sams face.
Another part of the game Sam Tomkins goes to kick the ball and after he kicks it Buderus tries to trip Sam up whilst he has his back to Sam by swinging his leg backwards to trip him.
I used to like and respect Leeds but under McLennann their discipline is disgusting.
