One thing the club can take from this is a discussion with the players around having fans connected to their social media accounts. Either don't accept requests from fans you don't know, or you need to treat your social media page as an extension of the marketing of the club, or have private social media accounts and separate club related ones.

Clearly the fans have access to too much currently and are more than willing to jump to conclusions based on it.

Fans are very fickle - if he ends up at Wigan and puts in a good performance in his first match, nobody will care that he's tried so hard to escape.

We should be wary of getting too frustrated with him ... and I include myself in that.

To avoid creating an atmosphere when/if he arrives, perhaps we should reserve judgement a bit more.

But it's only a pantomime created by fans believing unsubstantiated rumours ( up to now at least). Give the lad a chance to turn up (or not) before he's ripped apart.
